Brian Burke of 3dfx sent along this word with clarification on why the Voodoo5 board didnt show at the recent IDF show along with the standard 'we are all really excited' stuff and word on the first US showing of the board:

3dfx Interactive will be showing the VSA-100 based Voodoo 4 and Voodoo5 products at the upcoming Games Developers Conference held from March 9-12 in San Jose.
There was a news item over the weekend on 3dfx's showing in Tokyo that had quite a thread going that you may have missed over the holidays btw.

  • Man, I just don\'t get you guys who constantly say what a POS the GeForce is, or that you don\'t like T&L or whatever. When I had two voodoo2s in this system, my timedemo at 640x480 (demo002) was 52fps. (my CPU was shit) When I put my GeForce DDR in, with the same CPU, my 640x480 timedemo jumped up to 80, and my 1600x1200 was 58. So yeah, that\'s right, my GeForce did better at 1600x1200 than my SLI did at 640x480, in Q3, tweaked a bit of course. Now I have a regular old P2-450 in here till I get my new parts in, and I can get over 100fps in 800x600 in timedemos so I\'m damn happy with this thing. I mean, I can actually play games in 1600x1200, and something like 1024x768 in 32bit with everything on is quite playable, even though I don\'t bother. (btw I did try turning on everything I could at 1024, including dynamic lights, and I got like 45fps in demo001 on this 450)
