EA DICE Reveals Mirror's Edge

One of Electronic Arts' internal studios, Stockholm-based Battlefield developer EA DICE, officially announced the development of Mirror's Edge today.

A first-person action-adventure game based on the street sport of parkour, Mirror's Edge will come to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 some time in 2008, according to EA. Information detailing the title's development surfaced earlier this year when the game was code-named Project Faith and was said to feature an acrobatic female protagonist in a sprawling city environment.

"We are a studio that believes in taking risks and taking games in new directions," said Patrick Soderlund, GM at EA DICE. "We made the sandbox experience viable and enjoyable in Battlefield and now, we are looking to do something radical with the traditional established mechanics of first person movement."

The senior producer of the game, Owen O'Brien, said he wants the title to give players freedom of movement usually overlooked in this type of game. "We want to enable the player to move like a real person, with the ability to run, jump, vault and slide in a way that has never been seen before," he said.

Alright so we can expect a half-assed game that will break on a patch, then never be fixed, then be left unsupported after they release several "booster packs" and a newer version.
