Metroid Prime 3 Delayed, Screens Released
by Carlos Bergfeld, Jul 02, 2007 6:44pm PDTWith Retro Studios' anticipated Wii shooter Metroid Prime 3 originally slated for an August 20 launch, Nintendo today moved the release of the game to August 27. The news was included at the end of an announcement detailing the October 1 launch date for The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (NDS). Perhaps to atone for the minor delay, Nintendo also released a slew of screenshots and character art for the game.

Personally I think there is a lot riding on this game... not only is it a new addition to the Metroid series, it is also a proof of concept for using the Wii remote as a true aiming device ( I know Red Steel and CoD did it already, but this has the Nintendo stamp on it). If Retro/Nintendo were not able to pull the controls off correctly in this title, this will be a great disappointment and failure.

I won't be purchasing a Wii, so I'm not really sure how I'm going to enjoy #3. I don't like the Wii controls...is there a GC version of Prime 3?

Now, on a more down note, the headline "Metroid Prime 3 Delayed" isn't really appropriate here. You're going to make people panic for no reason, because typically when a game is delayed we're talking 3 to 6 months. Seven days is nothing. Barely worth mentioning in the Boxed Up Briefs for that matter. No biggie, though, keep up the reporting!
