Former Ohio State All-American center Greg Oden will appear on the cover of the Visual Concepts-developed, 2K Sports-published College Hoops 2K8 (PS2, PS2, X360), which is due out this fall. Oden, who will also act as the title's official spokeperson, represents one of this year's top picks for the NBA Draft.

"It's a great thrill to be selected as the cover athlete for College Hoops 2K8," Oden decreed. "2K Sports is all about bringing the most authentic and entertaining sports gaming experience and itÂ’s a great privilege to be the official spokesman for the best college basketball game coming out this year."

  • PS3 to go 1.82

    [ps3]

A new PlayStation 3 firmware update, version 1.82, is planned for release later this week. Reported by director of PlayStation Network Operations Eric Lempel on Sony's official PlayStation blog, the latest update will allow the playback of AVC (H.264/MPEG-4) files.

Lempel also dropped a hint for future updates, commenting that, "Hopefully this update is moving us closer to the audio playback features many of you commented about in my post the other week." However, the large range of audio-related suggestions in the linked post--which cover everything from custom soundtrack requests to HMDI bug fixes--make it impossible to discern exactly what he may be referring to.
