  • Im The Vicepresident of one of the Biggest FPS Clubs in Berlin ,and Germany too (I Think so ).
I tell you this only for one reason: whereever we post Messegaes, before we post them we All ( more as 670 Members ) had long Diskussions before
so what you can read here is not what \"I\" think, but what the most of us thinks.
Ok...so..DAIKATANA..: This is an Neverending Story!
But anyway here is what we think:
Mr. Romero had done many Misttakes..
Before Mr Romero let one word out about the Production and the \"RELEASE\"(only God knows when) abot this game he dident think enough about the very Complex Game Idea we think.
He had this Idea abot this Game and
for sure his First Reaction was: Im Jhon Romero i will make it in one or two years , no Problem for me.But i repeat he forgot to think profoudly abot what he want do.
Evry \"HOBBY\" Game Designer knows how complex it is to make an Game where the Basic is an ME and TWO BOTS Contolling game.
Try to make an 5 Minutes level based on his Idea ,thats tremendouesly Difficoult. So and now think about how difficult it must be to make an Complett Game like this.
Its not impossible but....! This Game must be FULL of Bugs. Its an Neverending Story..evrytime Mr. Romero and his Team think that they are ready....they must accept that the Game is not ready...new Bugs!
Many People will say now that All Game Designer had this Problems..but sometime they released.
Yes thats wright but only Mr. Romero had the Problem to try to make an Game good enough that never will be good enough.
We think that its impossible because you dont play never ALLONE you have always this two \"FRIENDS\" with you and now immagine how difficult it is to Progamming the Game so that this\" THREE People FPS \" will always
\"ROCKS\", you cant immagine evry step before that evry Gamer will do during the Game ....and : Evry Step is Diffrent.
This is what we think, but i must say also that we dont now HOW Mr. Romero will Finaly let it \"ROCKS\" and \"WHEN\"...but...:

    We Pray for him!

  • People have stated that Daikatana has brutal graphics. Daikatana will have gameplay and that\'s what I care about. (btw - the graphics look fine.)

Did you read the interview? \"There are around 50 cinematics that help the story. Our script was 135 pages long!\"

The game is like 4 games in one. This game is like a first person shooter version of Chronotrigger but better. New weapons in every act. New baddies. New level design/setup. New gameplay.

I\'m really looking forward to this game. When we see all the work that\'s been put into it, I think we\'ll understand why it took so long.

John Romero brought us Wolf3D, Doom, Doom II and Quake. He told me about a few days ago that this is the best game he has ever made/designed. He is a master gamesmith. Give the man a chance.

    Viva la Daikatana!

  • #18, actually I agree with you, but I think Daikatana actually has the potential to own Q3a and UT, at least in my book, but I\'m more into the Romero style FPS (Quake, Doom), where you run incredibly fast, and it\'s all about high speed action. There were times in Quake where I felt exactly like I was in a John Woo film, due to the extremely intense action of strafing out to shoot a rocket then hiding behind a wall. It was the most badass feeling ever. I think only Romero knows how to capture that, so I look forward to DK, single player especially.

I still think UT will own for sheer multiplayer variety, but that\'s really not that important to some people.
