Geometry Wars Steamed to XP on the Cheap

Independent studio Bizarre Creations' crack team of developers has unlocked the key to bringing Windows XP support to its hit arcade shooter Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved. Previously, the game's PC incarnation was only available for Windows Vista. Bizarre and Valve this week announced that the game has been added to Steam with a price tag of $3.95, the same as the game's Vista version. It has been discounted to $2.50 until June 22. Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved on Xbox 360 is sold through the Xbox Live Marketplace for 400 Microsoft Points ($5). Valve has released several screenshots of the Windows XP game. This week's news follows the recent announcement of Kuju Entertainment's Geometry Wars: Galaxies for Wii and Nintendo DS.

I'd heard about it's greatness and played it a little bit in my local electronics store on a 360, and as soon as I saw it on Steam I grabbed a credit card and got the game. It's so much fun, it's really worth the $2.50, though personally I prefer the analog stick controls over the keyboard on the computer. Thinking I might pick up an adapter for one of my Xbox or PS2 controls, or just buy a Logitech gamepad.
