ArmA Expansion Pack Follows Queen's Gambit

22
European publisher 505 Games has announced the first expansion pack for Bohemia Interactive's realistic combat simulator ArmA: Armed Assault, released in the US as ArmA: Combat Operations.

Titled ArmA: Queen's Gambit and co-developed by Black Element Software, the expansion will add two new story-centric campaigns--Rahmadi Conflict, billed as, "the true conclusion to the original ArmA story" and Royal Flush, set 18 months after the original campaign--as well as two new multiplayer missions--the 40-player Battle of Porto and Urban Assault, a co-op mission maximized for only 6 players.

Queen's Gambit will also bring with it the final 1.08 patch, which will add new weapons, vehicles, characters, gun dealers, a resource management feature, technical tweaks, and the ability for North American players to fight alongside the rest of the international ArmA community.

Along with today's announcement, 505 Games sent along a batch of screenshots showcasing the new areas and missions.

ArmA: Queen's Gambit is expected to release in Europe during Q3 2007. Shacknews has contacted Atari for details on a US release.

There is an entire group full of people who can help you "learn the ropes". Experienced and newcomers alike.

If you want to find a few scattered people to learn it with, by all means.. go for it. If you'd rather get started with a group that has experience and knows how to bring new people into it, explain everything, get them comfortable in the game, etc, let me know. Both options work, but one of them is a lot more newbie-friendly.

I know you espouse ShacTac a lot, and I have the game and really don't like playing on pubs since it just seems like long walking then team killed, but every time I think about joining ShacTac I read the 'How to join' and I get the idea you aren't looking for casual gamers like myself who will not be around every Saturday, but still enjoy a good realistic combat game, without pub silliness. I was just curious how much grief you give to guys who are just casual players who like these types of games?

Shackers get the benefit of the doubt. There's a reason our join app has an option for "Dedicated" or "Casual". If you're just coming from out of the clear blue internet, I typically want you to be a dedicated player (but there are quite a few exceptions), but if you're from the Shack I don't mind if you're casual and cannot be a dedicated player.

We don't give anyone grief about how often they can play. Life takes priority over gaming.

ShackTac is a sheltered haven from the retardation of the pub community in general. You're welcome to join us regardless of how often you think you'll be able to play.

Ive been intrested in signing up for this for a while, i just got ArmA about 5 days ago. Found a nice little clan but its not as organized as I would like.

Just wondering, what type of times do the shackbattles happen?

I would never consider ShackTac a "Clan"... to say such things would be detrimental to ones health. It's much more like a ShackGoon community of awesomeness..

ShackTac's sessions are every Saturday and it's much more involving than a clan.. there are sessions during the weekdays where people run Battle Drills of various scenarios (which I have yet been able to attend).

We like to have fun and our version of fun is organized immersive teamplay.. both adversarial and cooperative..

I'd say sign up as a Guest or what have you and just play with us on a Saturday to see if it's to your liking!

              Also, Love Kevb0.

I'm about as casual as it gets (though I try to make every Saturday session I can).. I can almost never participate on the weekday impromptu sessions and I get no grief..
Don't think everyone is constantly questioning "Man where is that Newbie guy? He just joined one day and now we don't even see him..." we're not like that...

Though if you do end up being a very very cool person who participates a bunch and has an awesome voice who can commentary a game like no ones business (JPB).. we do end up wondering where you are sometimes..

This is good to hear as I have been meaning to get in on the Saturday games when I have time I just didn't want to be a problem since I drift in and out of gaming due to life.

You can count me in as well - I've picked up the game, done a few training missions (qualified expert on a few things - too bad it doesn't show up in a file folder or something in the game to tell you what you qualified at). Let me know when you guys want to get together!
