Let's get one thing straight, guys. Nobody likes change. Not even us. For instance, as we speak, Steve is huddled in a ball within his sound-proof closet, gently suckling a Jamba Juice. Maarten has gone AWOL, last spotted leaving an appelflappen bakery somewhere in Germany. Chris and Chris have apparently fled the country in opposite directions. The truth is, we fear change. But in the interest of smoothing things over, of putting it all behind us, of turning over a new leaf, of moving on in our Shack-centric lives--let's see if we can go one single, solitary day without mentioning LNC.   • BlizzCon tickets on sale now

    Blizzard announced today that tickets for its upcoming convention are now up for sale at the BlizzCon website. The event is set to take place in Anaheim, California over August 3rd and 4th. Tickets are $100 and include a beta key to an upcoming Blizzard game, among other gifts.
  • Halo 3 statistics released, merchandise on the way

    Statistics have shown that more than 820,000 users tested the multiplayer beta of Bungie's Halo 3 (X360) between May 16th and June 10th. According to Microsoft, the testers accumulated 12 million hours of online gameplay--equivalent to more than 1,400 years of continuous gaming. Microsoft also sends word that it has partnered with comic book artist Todd McFarlane (Spawn) to provide two Halo 3-themed Xbox 360 controllers. A Halo-inspired wireless headset is also planned. The tie-ins are due out sometime before the game's release, which is slated for September 25th.
  • Epic gears up for not-so-epic update

    A free update for Epic's Gears of War (X360) is planned to go live tomorrow. Various multiplayer exploits will be fixed, along with the addition of 250 points worth of Achievements to be earned in the Annex game mode and Hidden Fronts map pack. The Roadie Run game mode will also be changed to allow players "greater control of their movement."
  • Skate picks up music

    In competition with Activision for the daily "Most Musical Tracks Announced for a Game" award, Electronic Arts today released the musical lineup for EA Black Box's upcoming subtly-titled skateboarding game, Skate (PS3, X360). The Sex Pistols' Pretty Vacant, the Ramones' Psycho Therapy, David Bowie's Queen B****, and Lord of the Avenues' Filthy Thieving Ba****** are among the 45 songs licensed for use in the game. EA did not specify the full title of the latter tracks, leaving Shacknews employees to guess at their true identities. Filthy Thieving Balloons? Queen Brief? It is a mystery.
