  • SCEA and NOA downplay departures

    Following reports that Sony and Nintendo of America were to undergo corporate restructuring, both companies downplayed the scale of their employee migrations. Sony Computer Entertainment America's Dave Karraker has characterized the count of 80-100 SCEA workers being laid off as "way high," claiming the number is closer to 50 or below, according to GameDaily BIZ. Up to 90% of Nintendo's Redmond, Washington-based marketing team was reported as leaving the company after refusing to relocate to other offices, but NOA president Reggie Fils-Aime has now placed the amount of those choosing to stay behind at 60%. It is unknown at this point whether NOA executives George Harrison, Perrin Kaplan, and Beth Llewelyn are counted among those on the way out.
  • Overlord demo lands on Xbox Live Marketplace

    A playable demo for Triumph Studios' Overlord has been released to Xbox Live Marketplace today. Overlord is an action adventure title that will allow players to control up to 50 minions in order to carry out evil deeds, which apparently include obliterating innocent sheep and insects. A demo for the PC version of the game will be out "shortly," with the game set for release on June 26th.
  • Super Smash Bros. Brawl to be super controllable

    Series steward Masahiro Sakurai today announced in a blog post that the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii) will be compatible with all four supported Wii controllers. These include the Wii Remote and Wii Remote/Nunchuk combo, as well as the GameCube and Classic controllers. "Hmm? How do you do smashes and dashes with just the Wii Remote? If I get the chance to tell you, I will," wrote the coy Sakurai.
  • Warhawk beta updated

    SCEA sends word that developer Incognito's Warhawk beta will be patched up tonight on the PlayStation Network. Fixes include improved stability, server releases to kick disconnected clients, and the addition of a push-to-talk VOIP feature.
