GA-Source has some new shots of that VRND project attempting to recreate the Notre Dame cathedral in the Unreal engine which is getting more and more impressive. Hell yea, those screenies rock. WoT looks good, but this owns. Dont cry, we can play in these kind of environments in the not too distant future ;) (Say, 3 years?)

I think you guys are missing the point. This whole project is for educational purposes and has nothing to do with gaming. To quote Victor DeLeon, the project lead, as to why they are using the Unreal engine: \"There\'s three reasons: the simple scripting language, superior visual quality, and the fact that it runs on PC\'s\". Superior visual quality is right. Those are some of the most realistic looking real-time screenshots i\'ve ever seen on a pc.

Are those curved surfaces in there? Very nice likeness btw... I just wonder why, this took months? I wonder if they\'ll ever even release it. Probably says on the page which is why I\'m about to go and read it :)

Yea, when can we DM in it..

and how fast is this map? I can\'t imagine even with the latest hardware overclocked you could squeeze more than 5-10 fps out of that incredibly detailed, wide-open, heavily lit and polygonned map.
