Need for Speed ProStreet Announced

As was expected, Electronic Arts today announced development of the latest installment in the Need for Speed franchise, Need for Speed ProStreet. The EA Black Box-developed street racing game sequel promises an increased focus on the series' Autosculpt technology, as changing the looks of a car will now have a direct impact on its performance. A newly released trailer also seems to indicate an expanded damage model for the game.

"Need for Speed ProStreet accelerates street racing culture by providing the ultimate stage for the pursuit of street racing supremacy," said executive producer Larry LaPierre. "This is a game about building the ultimate performance-tuned battle machine, taking it to multi-disciplinary showdowns all over the world and pitting your skills and reputation against the very best street racers."

Need for Speed ProStreet is set for release on PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS, PSP, and PC this fall. You can find screenshots here.

Less focus on autosculpt and more focus on car chases or driving in general, thank you.
