I went to Flagship at the beginning of the year and sat down with the game, and it's fun. It's D2 all over again. Action and loot, and the randomized levels give it so much replay you can't shake a stick at. Not even a good shaking stick that's been training for a chance for a good shaking.
That stuff is hard to convey in screenshots, and I agree these shots aren't terribly impressive. They seem to be interested in showing off their character models much closer up than you'll ever see in the game for some reason, in a day when we're on the cusp of DX10, it seems like the wrong strategy to me but I'm not on their marketing team.
As far a the $10 a month? Everyone seems to think that the game will have no value if you don't subscribe, and forget that you'll get a game with more content and replayability out of the box than you got with Diablo 2. With a full single player story, with free online play. Forget the hardcore mode or the added character slots you get when you subscribe, the $10 a month allows them to add significant content on a regular basis, not a patch every 2 years with a dozen more runewords like D2, but added equipment, monsters, areas to explore - including all the added iterations that adding a new tileset into a randomizing engine allowe, missions, mission types, etc, all on a very regular basis. I think they're aiming to do regular additions on a monthly basis and larger content packs every 3 months. (Given the track record of episodic gaming so far, I'm suspicious of those targets, but we'll see.) I don't think it will be worth subscribing for the first few months, but after 6 months or a year, I think it will be very worth it.
Anyway my point is, bitching about screenshots is one thing, but don't write the game off till you've played it.

They need to release more videos with guts falling out and hearts being ripped out, that is if they still are shooting for a mature rating.
