I was a little nervous getting my 8800 2 months ago with the release of ATI's still unbenchmarked card coming still, but it looks like I picked a good horse. Too bad for Ati/AMD, I was a big supporter of both, but they are both just clearly getting smoked by intel/nvidia now.

I'm noticing in some reviews that AMD's product in many cases has higher minimum frames but lower average frames... that sounds good: More consistent average, less frame drops.

The power consumption is high though, they need to get the power leakage thing under control.

Pricing seems to be decent though, but still priced higher than the market I personally fall under I'm afraid.

Hey...Guys, am I the only one looking at this card, and thinking...hey, if I get this card, I'll get decent performence, and when i get my next ATI card, I'll be able to use the old card to process physics instead of tossing it away like the Nvidia cards?

Also, as for noise, just wait for some of the OEM's to come out with their custom coolers...

If I'm not mistaken, I read an article on Daily Tech a while ago, saying that the 2900XT was not that good, and wondered if it was even going to be released. It still is a shame...hopefully ATI's mainstream cards will fare better.

Man, that card kinda sucks. The GeForce 8800 GTS is as fast, mostly a bit faster, less noisy, consumes less power, and isn't more expensive, and came out earlier. I was hoping for something more competitive, but it looks like Nvidia just totally owns this round. :(

Benchmarks in different reviews are confusing.

In some of them, the 2900XT is on par or better than the 8800GTS, with a nice advantage in things like the Call of Juarez Directx10 demo.
In others, is inferior than the 8800GTS, with only being on par with it in a couple of games.

Ouch.

DX10 performance doesn't seem to be too hot either.

I'm sure it will start improving with future driver revisions, but they have had quite a while to tweak them so I don't expect a miracle.
