I just finished reading Stephen King's On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft.

A really good book for anyone who's interested in becomming a writer (or just wants to learn more about how it's done). He gives a lot of advice, some of it may seem obvious, but he also dispells some of the myths of writing such as how every author must know what the plot of a novel will be before writing, what the symbolism is, theme, etc.

He also talks a lot about his youth and how he got into writing, his failures, and how he finally made it big. There's a section at the end where he also tells the story of when he got hit by that van back a few years ago. I didn't know how serious the accident was.

Definite read. Even if you don't want to be a writer I might recommend picking it up just for the biography (first half othe book).

House Music Menz and music making menz. Picked up two really nice sets recently.

Renisannce Transitions 2, mixed by Jon Digweed.
Global Underground 3: Taipei (2cd set). Deep Dish

I have been listening to the first one on my way to work, such a nice intro to the day. Starts off mellow then ramps up near the end. Great set overall. I have not heard some of the tunes before but Boul de Nerf is such a nice neat track.

GU3 CD1 is much like RT2. But has a very nice upbeat good feel to it. The craziet track on this is on CD2 - Start Chasing - (Extrawelt Remix) - Alexander Kowalski. Digeredoo electronic tweaked sound that blows your FUCKING MIND. I nearly shit myself when this track his my ears.

On another note. I had picked up a copy of Fruity Loops since me and my pal have used the demo for so long. We are both attempting at creating some music like this. In the weeks we have been playing around with it. I have approached electronic music much differently now. I can say.. hey, I know how that sound is created and tweaked now. Now that we have been getting used to the program we have created somce nice samples. We usually just record and add shit in, changing things. But I have a feeling we are going to have to start using other programs if we are to get serious about making some killer beats..... and maybe some gear. Suggestions?

The grand adventure begins one week from Today! I will be adventuring with another guy from Virginia Beach, VA to Everett, WA via Nashville, TN and Las Vegas, NV to reach the USS Abraham Lincoln on or about May 22nd.

The updated schedule:
FRI May 11: Leave VA Beach, Arrive Nashville (Fairview), TN
MON May 14: Leave Fairview, Arrive Oklahoma City, OK
TUE May 15: Leave OK City, Arrive Holbrook, AZ or thereabouts
WED May 16: Leave Arizona, Arrive in Vegas!!!!
FRI May 18: Leave Vegas, Arrive Boise, ID
SAT May 19: Leave Boise, Arrive Portland, OR (Shackmeet?)
SUN May 20: Leave Portland, Arrive in Seattle or Everett or whatever.

Anyone have recomendations on hotels in the 100$/night area for any of the cities listed? Also, if you have any opinions on Rush Hour traffic in any of the cities on I-40 from North Carolina to Arizona, or for SLC, Boise, Portland, or Seattle, please to be letting me know.

My travel estimates are based on a 11AM-9PM driving schedule.

people are complaining about the planet earth documentary being too violent! hahahaha, and there i was complaining how tame it was because it never shows you what the predators do to their prey. they'd show everything leading up to the kill, sometimes the kill itself, but always left out what happens afterwards.

Okay, I'm going to list my planned weight routine and you can tell me if it's going to cause me substantial bodily harm.

Each day consists of a few (usually two) muscle groups. For one muscle group, I do three sets; all of them are around 8 reps, and I lower the weight by a little bit between the sets. Then I do the same for the other muscle groups, and then repeat the whole routine a second time.

Monday: Back, biceps, forearms
Tuesday: Legs
Thursday: Chest, triceps

I think this will work pretty well, but if it's somehow flawed I'm happy to hear about it. Although I could do without responses along the lines of, "oh, go read this 400 page document on human physiology so that you can better understand your body!"

can someone name an alternative to Nero that will burn .cue + audio files?

Nero keeps telling me it can't analyze the blank discs I put in, even tho they are the same ones I've been using for months with no problems. It's either nero or my drive is busted, but I'd like to try another program but don't know of any that can burn .cue + audio files with no problems.

Need recommendation:

I'm looking for a free alt for Outlook, in terms of schedule management only? Calender style + hourly basis management would be best.

Also, does Vista come with equivalent of Outlook Express as a default email client? If so, and if I can find a nice alt. for Outlook, I think I can safely settle with Office 2k7 student edition or whatever that comes without Outlook.

I'm getting really close to pulling the trigger on a new e6420 based rig with an 8800. Any reason I should hold off? Anything exciting happening like, next week, that would make me regret buying today?

Obviously things are always changing, I just don't follow the scene like I used to so I want to make sure that there's not something uber coming out like on Monday that would make me kick myself for buying this weekend.

Fuck! I just chipped a tooth. :( Not badly, I was a bit drunk and kind of swung a glass up into it when someone said something really funny. You can't really notice it from the front but it feels like some more got chipped off at the back. Worth seeing a dentist about just in case it might chip more or something?
