by Maarten Goldstein, May 02, 2007 8:42am PDT

Bethesda's Fallout website has been updated, noting that in 34 days they'll be releasing a teaser trailer for the game. Currently the site offers a new piece of concept art, as well as a streaming version of the Fallout 3 title track. New concept art will be posted weekly until the release of the teaser.

  • Have you all forgotten what the music in Fallout was really like? Everyone rightly remembers the music behind the opening cinematics, but all of the game music was ominous and ambient. There was nothing campy or comic about it. I just don't understand this impulse to expect the worst and to discover it in every new revelation. As far as I'm concerned, Fallout isn't a song or a perspective or a combat system - it's an experience of adventure and decision. Bethesda has proven with the Elder Scrolls series that they know how to build a world worth exploring, but they have yet to write a decent NPC or offer a quest that asks the player to make a complicated moral decision. These are the weaknesses that worry me. I couldn't care less about the title song.
