Left Behind Games Forsakes Board Members

by Chris Faylor, Apr 30, 2007 3:38pm PDT

Christian game developer and publisher Left Behind Games, responsible for last fall's PC RTS Left Behind: Eternal Forces, has announced a reorganization of its upper management. As of today, the company has "discontinued employment" of president Jeffery S. Frichner and accepted the resignation of senior vice president David J. Klein, with CEO Troy Lyndon (pictured left) calling for the company's three other board members to step down as well. In their place, Michael A. Knox and Leslie N. Bocksor will act as interim co-chairs on the board of directors. Today's announcement stated that the pair plans to focus on "the enormous untapped market found within faith-based, inspirational and family values entertainment media and games." Knox is currently the CEO of V2P Communications, whereas Bocksor is a managing partner with advising firm Lennox Hill Partners. Knox and Lyndon previously worked together in the formation of Park Place Productions, the developer behind the original John Madden Football on Super Nintendo and Genesis. "Both Knox and Bocskor have media entertainment and public company management experience that we desperately need," said Lyndon. In the third quarter of 2006, Left Behind Games saw a loss of $4.1 million, which Lyndon explained as a result of the company's first release being on the shelves for only six weeks of that period. The next Left Behind Games release is expected in September 2007. "I am delighted to have the potential opportunity to work with Troy Lyndon again, as our last experience together resulted in numerous successes," noted Knox. Bocksor also expressed happiness with his position on the board. "I am excited about the company's future as it extends its presence as a leader in the family values, faith-based and inspirational media and entertainment marketplace," he said.

  • Being christian and seeing these games, I feel sorry for them but at the same time, those games are horrible. I think they need to refocus on something else. I just feel that while I can respect what they're going for, I feel that the end products are junk. The guys in my church all play Gears of War, Zelda, and Guitar Hero II, and Final Fantasy. We don't play the Left Behind games because we want good games like everyone else and honestly, if we want to learn about God and our faith, we read our bibles and go to church instead.

One thing I've noticed around here though. While the majority of the Shack seem to be friendly and accepting as far as everyone's backgrounds. I see a disturbing minority who talk about tolerance and how they are so enlightened, yet at the same time, when it comes to judeo/christian values, they have nothing but venom and hate to spread. I think that everyone has free will and the freedom to choose what path they seek. At the same time, when someone says that they are tolerant and educated, yet resort to the same bigotry that they profess to be against, I just feel that they have nothing constructive to bring society. To me, regardless of where someone comes from, if they're trash, then I'll be an ass to them. There are people out there who profess to be "christian" who I would not welcome around me even as a christian, and yet there are people who may be in the stark opposite of the spectrum as me who earn my respect.
