by Steve Gibson, Apr 16, 2007 6:00pm PDTMust say I'm a little surprised that STALKER stuff didnt show up sooner. We contacted all the companies involved as shown by even getting a quote from one of them. I guess biz and PR guys dont talk to artists much eh?

The Shack has given me a lot of laughs, (mis)information, and perspective over the years and I've long wanted to give something significant back to the community here. abrasion's special "40,000th" post was somewhat prophetic last night:
http://www.shacknews.com/ja.zz?id=14221830
The reality is that at that time, abrasion had nearly 70,000 posts not counting his alternates or what may have been lost in the database crash. How do I know this? Last night I was putting the finishing touches on a project that answers that question and many others:
http://www.shackstats.com/
I've been working off and on to bring back ShackStats ever since they were lost over what seems like an eternity ago now. There have been at least three projects like this that I've started and thrown away over the last few years, but I began work in earnest on what would ultimately become shackstats.com early last October.
So now the first public release of ShackStats is finally ready and you guys can kick the tires on it and let me know what you think.

So, best web-based software for photogalleries? I don't want flickr. I've heard of SlideShowPro, which is very nice, but I want something more...cheap. Also, the thumbnails should be able to be different sizes. Something easy, something customizable, something cheap.
Go!

Toilet always runs after flushing. If I lift the lid, it seems like the chain is getting stuck under the tank flap. How can I fix it?

One of my friends told me to sit at my keyboard and write a song "in the style of Enya" in a single take (one per instrument). So, here's my Enya tribute tune. I think it sounds a lot like her stuff actually, haha.

This one is one of my favourite little melodies. Simple and light. I'll do more with this eventually.

This one I actually whipped up on the spot for a shacker's birthday. I think a unique song is a nice gift to give. I'm not sure if I have to ask their permission to play it for others now though, haha.

This last is an introspective piece I recorded a while back. This is all off the cuff, single take stuff, but occasionally it comes out with nary a missed note. I like this song a lot.

Anyone have any free time to work on a hopefully easy but very useful extension project for Firefox? I don't have the programming skills which is why I'm asking here.
I want to organize bookmarks in the same way my mind organizes info. We have a tendency to think of information in different ways sometimes. I do this with my bookmarks, sometimes I want to book a restaurant link under several different folders, say, by city, my entertainment folder, or even health if it's a healthy restaurant. However, I don't want to clutter up my collection and when I search for it at a later time, I have to guess, "where did I put that damn bookmark." I'd like to be able to bookmark a site once and during that event, I can check mark several categories it's filed under. Next time I look for it, I can look in any of those categories (folders) and it will be listed there.
That would be most useful.

Oh, and right now Geraldo and Mark Furman (yes, that Mark Furman) are debating the quality of the tactics the police used, and whether or not the first guy on the scene should have just gone running into the building with his guns blaring rather than isolating the building and waiting for backup. STFU Geraldo. The Hokie 5.0 are not a SWAT team.

Kane and Lynch online co-op multiplayer confirmed? I watched this last night, and I'm sure they said so in this interview. But I can't confirm now because I am at work.

I'm conflicted on the ending. On the one hand I think if he had died it would have been a brilliant tragedy (and so would her book) but on the other hand, you were expecting him to die and the "twist" was that she kept him alive and ruined both her book and the film. I dunno.
I wish my gf was a baker. (I think I just proposed, lol, seeing as my surname is Baker)
