It looks like CEO compensation is escalating at a rate that isn't linked to any kind of reality or performance indicator, etc.

He ended up beating me by 10 seconds in the race! I hope I get the result reversed, but I still would have enjoyed to win IN THE RACE instead of afterwards on a technicality :(.

I mean Guitar Hero comes with a guitar, why can't CnC come with a trackball hybrid controller thing - or Halo 3.

That looks like it's all going to change in a few months. The trick seems to be real-time progressive mesh on a grand scale, coupled with streaming textures from the Blu-ray. This HD video should speak for itself: http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=18580&type=wmv&pl=game Supposedly the cell processor's SPUs are ideal for this sort of thing, and I think this video really shows why Sony when with such an unconventional design if it's true. The potential here seems to be almost limitless. Even more impressive is that it'll run at 1080p.
You can link to Part 2 of the commentary on the same page, where they show off the water effects which uses real time fluid dynamics (you can make waves basically), also handled by the SPUs, and shows some nice new angles on the same city. The waterfalls are particularly impressive.

HOLY SHIT, I have never been more scared shitless by a game in my life. The secret lab in that you have to kill the bandits at the factory to get the key to, goddamn the first set of boxes that come flying at you I unloaded two entire clips into them...god that entire level is so well done...fuck have to calm the fuck down.
I would definitely give this game the edge in scariness as compared to FEAR and Doom3. Goddamn...my mind is just blown, I literally never want to play that level again.

I need to make some extra money, kind of fast. Has anyone done the Mac Book (not pro) offer and got one? I'm thinking of doing it and then selling the Laptop on Ebay. Is it worth it?

I don't think I've ever done one of these 'celebration' style posts on post count qty but I figure 40,000 isn't a small figure, so here goes.
I recall posting here via the anon post button, many many a year ago, then finally while on a break in another state (after breaking up with my first g/f) I created an account.
That must've been 7 years ago now at least.
I've had some good times and some bad, some people dislike me, others well they dislike me a bit less and I have one or two friends here too.
No doubt if I could, I would've come to a few of these shackmeets and had a good time with y'all (I'm fun in person, honest) but sadly great big oceans hold that back.
I recall posting as 'AbRASiON" back when I thought that was cool (oh boy)
I even used to post as 'AbRASi0N' to beat the PRL way back in the day, long long long ago. don't worry that account is long gone
I recall some of the big threads too, Adrenaline's Max Payne vs Quake 3 graphics thread was a great one which stands out, it was epic at the time.
I remember overburn (I think?) posting one random night that a plane hit the WTC and the slowly growing thread where people confirmed it on the news, I'll never forget refreshing and then a post saying 'another one has hit!!!' or something similar to that, that's when I turned on the T.V yeah it happened at night time here
I remember the fads - even when they WERE actually cool (no really AYB was cool once) I remember Tokyo Breakfast and me jokingly saying 'nigger' all the time (in a comical way damnit)
Most of us 'internet people' sure have developed a fairly unique sense of humour thanks to this place and many others, just a shame that humour is useless to people of the outside world :)
I've said some dumb shit, I've said some good stuff too#, either way I've had a good time.
I couldn't begin to imagine how many hours I've plumbed into this place a rough guess would be a bare minimum of 15 hours a week, every week for 7 or 8 years and that'd be a conservative guess too.
I've been 'away' for a while too, about 2 years, some people were unhappy to see me back others not but well no matter what your take, I think I do manage to get a conversation flowing, I hope.
I'd love to give a shoutout to x y and z people but honestly you end up leaving people off the list, in the long run, the past 2 years I think I've actually gotten to know peoples personality a little bit better by actually reading their posts more carefully finally- that kinda helps.
I'm not really accustomed to writing a post without a question tacked on at the end, I normally want peoples opinions or answers, kind of weird to do a post like this.
So there you have it, I hope I've entertained some, made others think and the ones who got angry - well don't take it all too seriously, this is after all the internets.
Move along, nothing to see here.

My piecemeal desktop more or less died on Thursday night. I put it together for $300 bucks as something extremely basic I could play WoW on back in September. I don't play WoW anymore, and I probably have 1 month left of using a desktop until I move aboard ship for about a year, so I won't be fixing it. I've limited the problem to either Motherboard, Processor, or both RAM sticks. I was getting random reboots over the course of 2 weeks, and then I was playing that Square building flash game on Thursday, PC kicked off, and didn't get back into Windows.
I got it to load back into Windows yesterday, but at the login screen, it gave me some "Security somethingoranother failed" and it instructed me to boot into Safe Mode, but Safe Mode gave me the same business.
So RIP little desktop, you have served me well these past 6 months. *salute*

What a load of horse shit. Seriously, I was under the impression that there was only going to be 2 seasons. It's just seems so fucking cheap to tack that kind of a cliff hanger on the end.
It really doesn't need a whole new season of people getting arrested and then escaping from a car crash.

What's the best way to test an LCD HDTV for dead pixels? Is there a standard way to do so without having to hook it up to a computer?
I figured I may as well find out if there are any, but I have no idea how to do so... o_O

Do you know any good modules for either Perl, Python and Ruby in order to do web scraping that supports JavaScript?
The only language out of the 3 I know is Perl but all web scraping modules (or WWW::Mechanize specifically) does not support embedded JS.
