Restarting Steam will have you grab an updated Steam client, as noted on the Steam website. The update takes care of two crashing bugs, and also fixes an issue where more content would be downloaded than required.

I still get really bad crashes(opengl) and image corruption(direct3d) on hl1 engine stuff.. newest drivers on everything.
