Oh my God.

I just had an epiphany. A nerd epiphany.

Nintendo and Sega could TOTALLY do a port or new version of Virtual On! to the Wii. It would be the greatest thing ever.

i'm impressed with the SotN port for XBLA.

there has been no slowdown so far like the psx version.
i wish the 'enhanced' graphics option looked a bit better, i prefer 'original'.
i also wish you could stretch the screen vertically a bit more, i can zoom in a bit on my monitor tho so no big deal.

it looks sounds/great too. some sound effects are a bit off, probably due to compression. even so, it's already my favorite version of the game.

luck mode is still hard as hell in the beginning. getting 1 or 2 shotted after making a lot of progress sucks :< oh well i dig the challenge, and the higher chance for rare drops is worth it.

In a way this does make me feel more conscious than I used to. The sun comes up, the sun goes down, other people wake up and go to sleep, and IÃ¢Â€Â™m always there to perceive it happening. I donÃ¢Â€Â™t disappear from the conscious world for hours at a time. The day-to-day calendar is no longer a good model for my sense of the passage of time. Those sharp lines between days no longer exist. IÃ¢Â€Â™m going to need to do some restructuring of my time management tools to adapt to this new way of living.

So my father and I were in the basement, making a fire in the wood stove. Everything was fine, then the flames really started kicking in and then we heard something scratching and moving around trying to get out. My father panicked and started trying to put out the fire, while I started burning my hands, trying to take apart the chimeney/tube part that went upwards and led outside.

The scratching and moving around was getting worse and then the bird started chirping. It was terrible. By the time we had everything unscrewed and the tube part removed, the bird was laying there, twitching, covered in ashes and laying directly on the plate above the fire, so it was burned pretty badly too. I think its eyes were melted or something, because I couldn't see them.

Anyway, I put some gloves on and snapped it's neck to put it out of its misery. R.I.P. cute birdie :(

Gents, is there C&C 3 benchmarks out there?
Guy at work with a P4 3ghz and crap AGP cards wants to know if a 7900GS AGP will help (enough) to make it good or if he needs to just do the whole PC (he's poor so unlikely)

I've heard of all of the whammy bar problems, but has anyone had a problem with 3/4 of their buttons suddenly stopping working? I played for about an hour earlier, and everything was fine, then I shut off the XBox, and unplugged the breakaway, so I didn't have to pull the xbox out every time I wanted to play (seriously, why is the only USB port on the BACK of the console?) When I went to start it back up, I plugged the cable back in and started the xbox, and now the strum switch(up), start, and the d-pad are the only things that work.

I guess I should just RMA it?

If you've even wanted to use a source-based Linux distro (hey, there might be SOME of you out there) but didn't want to fuck with a gentoo install, try Sabayon linux.

It's gentoo based, but, comes with an great live cd that turns on Beryl by default (you know, the cool screen effects) and lets you install the os from inside the live cd.

When you boot up, you should have a fully functional gentoo install with working 3d effects, etc. The downside is, well, it's gentoo based. This means when you go to install a new package it downloads the source and builds it for you. Honestly, I've never really seen the speed increase some claim from this method. In the end, it's a nice desktop, and for gentoo it's a quantum leap ahead, but Ubuntu still rocks for ease of use. I will say this, the Sabayon installer fucking rocks, it's one of the best I've ever used.

Now to get fiesty installed...

I've pimped Opera in the shack in the past for no reason other than because I really enjoy using it and really think people who don't use it are missing out on the best browser ever made.

They just came out with Opera 9.2 and it's even better and faster than before, and includes a couple of really fucking nice new features, Speed Dial is especially spiffy. So just thought I'd let you guys know in case you want to give it another try. Also, check the introduction to Opera that it takes you to to learn a bit about the many features, chances are there's a bunch of stuff you didn't know was there.

ps1: I know it's not so great on the Mac, although I still think it kicks Safari ass.

ps2: No need to turn this into FIREFOX vs OPERA - FIGHT!!!. We all know Firefox blah blah. I like this better, some people might too, that's all.
