\"you try to word your sentences eloquently to give the illusion that you are some ivy league scholar\"
    you:
just read the message below where you say:
\"I\'m sorry for my correct capitalization and that you can\'t
read above a 4th grade level. I don\'t think my posts sounded eloquent
or complicated, they just sounded normal. \"
Well, I dind\'t know you were such an anal prick that you go back and re-read your own post 5 timse to make sure no typos are in there. Also, I don\'t post in forums to make an impression of being smart...like this i just type my thoughts in seperated by a few periods....but if it is that big of a deal i\'ll type in sentences.
Once again, you are trying to impress ppl on the internet, which just shows how much of a no-life loser you are. Also, eloquent isn\'t a 4th grade word genius. But by your reply linking eloquent and complicated as almost synonymous shows your real lack of vocabulary moron. Eloquent doesn\'t have to be complicated. It is flowing, enriched text that properly and \"beatifully\" describes something.

    \"I am so l33t I will h4x0r j00! HAHA! You are a l00s3r!!\"

Hmm, can someone call a translator please? Why are you using numbers for letters and they aren\'t even forward you idiot. Oh, btw, you should learn to spell your own name...LOSER is spelled with only one o..and i have a 4th grade reading level haha you amke yourself look stupider by every post. Also, what is l33t and h4xor and joo? Are you attempting to say jew? I don\'t get it.

  • #173: Over and over again you\'ve demonstrated that you don\'t know anything about HL DM, and yet you continue to criticize it. Even the first time I played Q3 I would still end up at the top of the scoreboard pretty regularly. But in HL DM, if a newbie jumps in a server with anyone who knows how to play the game decently they will get destroyed. The learning curve is much greater in HL than in Q3, and that\'s not just my opinion, that\'s been the experience of just about everyone who has played both HL DM and Q3 extensively. Once again, I urge you people who are slamming HL DM to come talk to me when you\'ve actually seen how good players play the game. Jumping in a random server with a bunch of newbies isn\'t gonna cut it, just like you don\'t get a complete understanding of Q3 until you\'ve seen some of the best play 1v1.

  • About the HL DM vs. Everything Else stuff, what I have to say is this: I truly believe that HL DM is the best game every created. Yes, that is only my opinion. Why do I mention it? Because I think there are a lot of people out there who would really enjoy HL if they gave it a chance. Quake\'s strength is in it\'s simplicity - anyone can pick it up and get into the action. HL is on the other end of the spectrum - its strength is in its complexity. It takes time to master the game. I\'ve been playing for over a year and I\'m still constantly learning. I\'m not saying that if you haven\'t mastered the game you aren\'t qualified to comment on it, I\'m just trying to say that when people make comments like \"HL DM is slow\" it just demonstrates that you never really got the full experience of the game. That\'s okay. Few people have, unfortunately. That\'s because when HL came out the reviewers didn\'t bother to learn how to play either. So they panned the DM mode in their reviews, and that combined with poor net code condemned the HL DM community to relative obscurity next to games like Quake. But if you really give HL a try and truly understand it I think that a lot of people would enjoy it more than Q3, UT, or anything else out there. I know I do.

  • Being a modem-user ever since the original Quake, I\'ve never been impressed with HPB\'s ability to compete in any of the \'Quake\'s\'.

I played Quake with a 14.4 modem (remember those?) and it took a while to realize that the -\'looking up from the floor, sideways\'- view wasn\'t normal. Also, another annoyance was that every standard DM server was severly overloaded, on those tiny maps.

Quake2 was a step in the right direction (for me) but I could never compete with LPB when it came down to a fair rail match.

Quake3 is a mess on a modem. Every game I have tried has been completely unplayable.

However, I like Half-Life DeathMatch. Why? Complexity and nuance.
There are players that I can beat (that are faster/more accuate/lower latency than I) because I can outsmart them. And only Half-Life gives me the tools to do that. Level movement is extremely fast for experts, and the Tau cannon is the best weapon ever created. I love the fact that when someone is charging the Tau, no-one on the entire level feels safe, no matter where they are. Also, the guided RL allows modem players an accurate way to account for latency and predict. But even if i have a bad connection, I can still have fun with the \'slower\' weapons.

    Just my 2cents
