Cruise Line Promotes Wii, UK Jails Bar PS3

Norwegian Cruise Line recently unveiled plans to introduce the Nintendo Wii on its fleet of 15 "in service and under construction" cruise ships within the next month. The systems will be located in each ship's atrium, Kid's Crew facility, and some other unspecified public rooms. Passengers will be able to choose between various Nintendo-published titles, including Wii Sports, Wii Play, WarioWare: Smooth Moves and Excite Truck. On the other end of the spectrum, ITV News discovered that the PlayStation 3 has been banned from UK jails. According to UK Home Office head John Reid, "the Sony PlayStation 3 was barred from the prison estate because of the equipment's ability to send and receive radio signals."

I'm booked for a Norwegian Cruise in May. I'll be interested to see if they have these on the ship. I will own the ship in Wii sports if they do. I better start practicing playing while drunk.

Remember when prisons were actually prisons? This shouldn't even be an issue. It's bad enough they get cable TV. Now they get PlayStation 2 -- but not 3 because it can send signals. Geez...
