Lockup problems with GRAW 2?

As pointed out by Madwacker in the discussion of last night's Late Night Consoling, a bunch of folks over at the Xbox.com forums are complaining of frequent lockups when playing Ubisoft Paris and Red Storm's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 on Xbox 360. Some posters claim to experience up to three lockups per hour, and in particular, the training mission seems especially prone to freezing. Furthermore, many of those affected say other games, such as Ubisoft Montreal's Rainbow Six Vegas and Realtime Worlds' Crackdown, play without hassle on their systems. Meanwhile, other users in the thread report they have not had any problems, a statement reiterated by Shacker pebui and similar topics on other message boards. Anyone else out there having issues?

It's weird that I almost have none of the problems that people seem to be having with their 360s. The occasional lockup, sure, but nothing like this.

I played GRAW2 for probably 3 hours today. No problems whatsoever.

Doesn't this all completely defeat the purpose of a console?!?

I thought all the hype about the Xbox and Xbox 360 was that gamers don't have to worry about crashes because the programmers don't have to program for inconsistent hardware...

I've not had lock-ups, but twice so far the game didn't trigger scripted events and I had to reload the last checkpoint. :|

WooHoo! I made the front page!

Ok but seriously...this sucks. Can the almighty power of the Shack contact Ubisoft and get a comment on this? I mean, its not 1 or 2 cases...the net is exploding with people who are locking up all over the place. There are also some who are not having a single issue. But the former outweighs the latter by far.

How the heck did this game get past QA? I haven't had a single problem with RB6, and I haven't tried GRAW 2 yet...as I will for the first time tonight with friends who all purchased it.

Villagers demand a comment from Ubi !! - Bad pressing of discs? Actual shit QA? Would a patch fix it? Will they reissue discs.... something!

I played all of the tutorial and chapter 1 in SP with 0 lock-ups. It was over a 5 hour period with many breaks to help the kids and the 360 was on the whole time. Damn fun game with some serious firefights so far.

Wow, if its that bad for 360, then only god knows how insanely bad it must be for PC considering the unending problems I had with Vegas. GG Ubi, you are the new EA. Congratulations.

R6 Locks up on me all the time, mostly in split-screen multiplayer when we change weapons. Splinter cell locks up randomly all the time as well, so this comes as no big surprise.
