tldr; Filtersweep is now a head mod and paranoid android, who we didn't know was a mod anyway, is now no longer a head mod. If you have moderation-y issues that makes myself, ajax or filtersweep the people to contact. If you have fileshack issues, maarten is still the person to contact. If you have dog training issues, haiku is the one to contact. If you have poop issues, then steve is the one to contact, though we may give a honorary position to rosewood.

Now that we're back, I can tell you the exciting story of my day!

A couple of days ago, a package was stolen from my doorstep, I didn't think much of that. Anyway, it was a RAZR that was sent to my sister as an insurance replacement.

Today, while in class, I get a call from my sister telling me that our house was burglarized. So anyway, I skip my next class and haul my ass home to see what they got away with. Most of the shit that got jacked was mine (hp laptop, macbook pro, ipod nano, zune). Some of my sister's jewelry was stolen too. It was probably one dude who got away with everything he could carry in his hands.

Cops dusted for prints and anything (fucking powder is making my eyes itch, btw), talked to the neighbors. Naturally, they got no info from the neighbors; they haven't ran the prints yet since they don't have mine.

I just got a phone call from my credit card company telling me that someone tried using my credit card in 3 stores, and I didn't even realize that the card was missing. They tried using it at Macy's, NATURE'S COMFORT and Walmart. I got robbed by a metrosexual. :(

Anyone used a 'PC card adapter' in any laptop with Vista?

Trying to get this: http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Item(1138)-SDAD-38-SanDisk_CompactFlash_PC_Card_Adapter.aspx to work in a Dell laptop with Vista.

Looked for drivers or something to turn on, but can't find anything. Done searches and it seems like it should just work. Tried different CF cards, nothing is helping.

Just talked to a guy that had just finished being an intern to become full time 3 years ago at a company I used to work at. They are working 9:00 to 8:00 5 days a week and 10:00 to 4:00 on Saturdays and sometimes Sundays as well. He's only been in the biz for 3 years and he's already sick of it. This is also at a company that prides itself on treating their employees well. I'd give him another couple years before he bails and the biz will ose another talented person. This industry chews up and spits out more talent than any biz I can think of and they don't care because there are another 10 guys with resumes waiting. The problem is that it they sometimes lose really good talent to replace it with adequate talent. Not to mention all the money lost on training newbs. Time for gaming to grow up I'd say.

Any EB Games employees on the Shack?

I just pre-ordered S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and asked the guy if there was any pre-order incentive "thingies," and was told "Not right now but there might be something whe..." at this point his voice trailed off and he went under the desk to get my game. I didn't really think much of it and there was a big line behind me so he was trying to be as quick as possible.

My question is if they announce a pre-order bobble sometime between today and launch am I eligible to get it? Can anyone guess what he meant to say?

Not too long ago I posted a batch of screens from ArmA showing off night combat. There were a few comments about it looking like actual night (you know, crazy concept called 'darkness'), unlike many games. Since then, they've added a pretty slick feature that has really changed how things look at night, and it does a great job of adding depth to the night. Since there was good response to the previous shots, I figured some people might like to see the new stuff.

The feature is pretty simple, but it has a dramatic effect. At night, with the moon out, shadows are cast based upon the position of the moon in the sky. Simple as that. It looks fantastic.

Ratalon and I were driving in LA in December during rush hour and an Escalade hit the back end of my Rio. I took it in to get it fixed on Monday and the guy said it would be 3 days. He called me this morning and told me that the car had more damage than they thought because the frame was bent further in than they thought it was. The Geico adjuster has to come out and see the damage again before they fix it.

My question is, is the car ruined now even if they bend the frame back? I read some things on the internet that said that it causes the wheel alignment to be messed up and it will be easier for the frame to become bent again even worse if we get hit again.
