S.T.A.L.K.E.R Previews

I played the MP Beta a little bit last night. It was pretty fun. I did some 2v2 on the railyard map, and the other guy on my team and I did a pretty good job holding down the three story building (for a little while). The maps are really nice, wide open (yet plenty of cover) - and when you have altitude it gets fun tracking enemy players as they approach your location, unaware that they are in your crosshairs (or scope).

My first foray into the MP Beta didn't start out as well. I was engaging an enemy at long range with my silenced pistol, and someone on my team ran DIRECTLY in front of me. One shot from my pistol hit him in the side of his head and he dropped like a stone right in front of me. I lol'd. Shit happens when bullets are flying - he should have run behind me.

The Multiplayer is a bit laggy, it plays like your ping were your stated ping + 50. Otherwise, it's a solid and fun semi-realistic DM/TMD experience. Lots of weapons, interesting buy system, good graphics and audio, and excellent level design.

Does anyone else feel a little odd that we are actually playing STALKER?

Hopefully I can get in on the beta...
