Can't wait....love the HL2 atmosphere and art direction. The polish on this game is on another level.

How so? It doesn't have Blizzard's habit of packing every square-inch with hidden references and jokes, but in terms of creating a cohesive universe it's incredible. I'd even rank them slightly higher than Blizzard for not falling as much into the traditional fantasy/sci-fi tropes, although then again, Blizzard might get extra points for making those not suck. Hmm...

With polish I was referring to things that look like "unfinished" i.e. really nasty bugs/problems, like the sound stuttering issue with early HL2, stuff like that. You hardly find that in Blizzard games. Also, they have an epic feel to them that unequaled in terms of starting up a game and knowing: I'm gonna play something relly big here. Blizzard Cinematics anyone?
On the other hand, as you brought up the universe issue: they bended Warcraft lore like shit for WoW, so that's really disappointing in a way.
And HL2 has that nice huuuuge conspiracy G-Man whatever feeling going on, yet, it's getting dull if its only purpose are sequels.

HL2 had some annoying level design issues. It was good as long as you followed the ushers and didn't stray from the path. Mostly invisible walls, invisible ceilings, areas you were not supposed to go, falling off the map (shoulda used another invisible wall or ceiling, LOL), unclear objectives. You can throw in shitty support for NV cards and sound issues if you want to.
