Battlefield 2142 Unlocks Weekend
According to this note on the Battlefield website, all the unlocks in Battlefield 2142 will be freely available for everyone this weekend. The upgrades will become available on Friday and will be taken away 2am Monday night. Thanks Blues News.

You know, I was always big against the unlock system however the way it's implemented in BF2142 is actually pretty cool. The unlocks come pretty frequently and give you more incentive to play the game. Plus, when you're just starting out you can always grab a dead person's backpack and have access to all the goodies you haven't unlocked yet.
There's also the Field Upgrades which are pretty cool.
So yeah, I used to be a big hater for this game but once I started playing it I've been having a blast. Oh, and I haven't seen any ads yet...-

2142 isnt like that though. it's not always better gear. the support guns for example, pretty much the most widely used guns in the game. The default one is incredibly good, most would say it's better than the unlocks. it's damage output is slightly less per bullet than the unlock, but the clip size and rate of fire pretty much make it a no-brainer.
the only class where i'd say unlocks can outperform the default would be the engineer.
