Lionsgate Nabs Kane & Lynch Movie Rights

According to this report by Variety, Lionsgate has acquired the rights to create a movie based on the upcoming Eidos published action game Kane & Lynch: Dead Men. The production team for the movie will include Adrian Askarieh and Daniel Alter, who are also producing the Hitman (another Eidos property) movie for 20th Century Fox. There's no word as to when we can expect to see the movie. The game itself is due out later this year on Xbox 360 and PC.

How many games get movie deals going before they even ship? I doubt it, but Kane and Lynch could still bomb. Freedom Fighters is one of my favorite games ever, but it didn't sell at all.

After playing Hitman Bloodmoney and reading previews about this game, I have am psyched for this movie.

I really hope they make it Heat-esque.

The game looks great and this could be the first video game movie that is half-decent.
