  • I don't buy that 'the hardcore' are only 5% of the market. Companies like nVidia wouldn't exist without the hardcore, or if they did, they'd be doing integrated graphics solutions and motherboards. Yes, games like the Sims and Turkey Hunter or whatever are huge sellers because they're out there grabbing previously untapped dollars, and the DS and Cooking Mama/Nintendogs does well because of the softcore audience, but people who buy those games are not Unreal Tournament's audience. UT is a hard-hardcore game, the target audience for it is narrower than WoW or even CounterStrike. They need to make the hardcore audience happy with the game, and that means not nerfing the PC version. I have no doubt that they'll be courting the CPL with this title, and that won't happen if it doesn't have a wide PC adoption rate. Granted, they may try and make the console versions perfect and try and have 360 tournaments, but I would think that doing so would have an effect on the PC core audience.

Mind you all this is assuming they're going for some kind of console/PC cross play. If they're not, then they can tweak them individually for each platform and all my points become a non-issue.
