Hi guys, I don't suppose you guys want to see what I have been working on for the last 6 months? It's a third semester project, and as such, probably shouldn't be too interesting, but we've gotten nothing but praise and positive comments, so I figured I'd post it here.

I don't want to spoil too much, but it's basically a spin on an old classic computer game, but with a rather unique way of controlling it.

Yeah yeah the Oscars are bunk. None the less I'm shocked at the best picture nominations. Shocked that Dreamgirls gets locked out of it and Babel is in. Has anyone even seen this movie? The only buzz pre-release I recall was that it was ok...and its been garnering nominations left and right. I know we're split on it, but I really want The Departed to win.

A Cost Analysis of Windows Vista Content Protection

This may have been linked before (dunno), but it has been updated (today - 23 Jan 07, in fact).

Most of the stuff is stuff we've talked about ad nauseum here before, but of particular note to me is this stuff with "tilt bits" (do a CTRL+F for it), which are basically built-in methods that decrease system stability.

It goes without saying that the more I read and see about Vista, the less I'm likely to end up using it. I've been an MSDN member for years and have had access to the various betas, and have tried them out and been largely unimpressed (same crap, fancier wrapping), and the only thing of interest to me is DX10. Of course, that's offset (for me, anyway) by all the ridiculous DRM stuff they're adding. And now, "tilt bits", which I hadn't read about until now.

I think I'm going to ride XP Pro out as long as I can, and from there, unless Vista has been greatly improved, I might finally become a Mac guy.

I just saw the new BSG. I think I enjoyed it. I just want them to get over that stupid Starbuck/Lee shit, it's really grating at this point. Also I groaned when STARBUCK IS TEH CHOSEN ONE. In fact let's just dump Starbuck completely, eh? Maybe she's one of the final five and they'll just decommission her immediately. That would be sweet.

Other than that I thought it was a good episode. Glad something happened with the Eye sort of, and that the Sharon's baby stuff is progressing instead of just being in stasis, and that the Chief got to smack Baltar in the face. Go Chief.

Is there a free way to post an internship opening?

The company I work for wants me to see if I can get a first year student to do some bitch work. Craigslist costs $25 to post an ad. I need to do it online some place where lots of people could see it from different schools, as I would rather not get someone else from my school since this person will be technically working under me. Otherwise, I'd just use a flier here in the cafeteria.

putting together a kn9 ultra w/ amd 3800 64 (am2)
coolmax v400 PS, patriot 2x512 ddr2 800mhz
i don't have the pci-e card yet so im using some old ass random pci cards(not at the same time) to try to boot. thats all i have plugged in. it turns on and gives maybe a 1 or 2 second beep then waits then repeats. power and on leds light on the mobo. anyone know where to find the beep codes or have any ideas?

Has there already been a thread discussing why Children of Men got so shafted at the oscars? Its not up for best picture? Owen isn't even up for actor? What the hell happened?

I'm seriously flabbergasted here. Totally baffled. I mean I really liked Little Miss Sunshine and I didn't hate Letters From Iwo Jima but to nominate both of them over Children just blows my mind.

The biggest crime of the whole thing though in my opinion is that Children wasn't nominated for directing. How does that happen?

So I just realized that my microsoft "media pro something" keyboard doesnt use the F keys for ther regular uses (ie : f5 = refresh, F2=rename) instead, they printed stuff on the F keys and they do stuff like undo, redo, new, open print, etc etc etc.

In the menu thingie, i can't find how to disable those keys like others, the only thing i found is how to unbind them to NOTHING (no usual binding whatsoever)

help ? the rest of the functions are cool, i don't wanna uninstall the whole software thing, but i want my F keys back !

So how about that Crackdown demo? Good stuff, huh? I pretty much can jump over the moon and kill gang members just by thinking about it. I made a bus fly off a bridge because i threw someone into it (either that or the driver panicked) and blew cars away because i was mad.

eBay thing:

I bought an item around the end of December, promptly sent payment. The item was fucked up when it arrived, so I contacted the eBayer, sent the item back and received a refund. Today he filed an unpaid item dispute against me. Russians are some sleazy fuckers.

So what's the worst that can happen if this isn't "resolved"? Given that I have a PayPal record showing that I sent payment, and that I sent a refund, I should be able to get it resolved through eBay, except I can't find a way to really contact them.

Anyone else kind of irritated that Rogers is raising the cost of Cable internet yet again, as well as the cost of digital cable? Sure it's again only by a few dollars, but damn it they just raised HS internet by quite a bit less than 4 months ago...

I'm getting a TONNE of replies to my inbox saying mail delivery failed on what looks to be a heap of spam.

I think someone has used my domain name as their address.
I use zone edit and I have *@mydomain.com emails forward to my ISP >:(

So these cockhats have sent their emails with
xyda@mydomain.com as the sender / reply address and
yt5623s@mydomain.com
utywv@mydomain.com

Problem is, ALL those address's actually "exist" because zoneedit forwards *@mydomain back to my real address :/

I don't think my machines have been hacked but why would a spammer use my domain as his sending domain?

Not happy.
