Energy is gained from power generators and stations that can be constructed at a limited amount of highlighted locations on the map
Only the hydrocarbon power plants are limited, you can make as many t1, t2, and t3 power generators as you want, anywhere you want
and:
Some units, however, are unique to a certain tech level, so it's necessary to build multiple factories and keep them at different stages to have the different array of units available. For example, the naval factory offers a submarine unit at level 1 but not at level 2.
A factory can build everything up to and including the levels underneath it, so a level 2 factory can definitely build level 1 subs, you just gotta click the level 1 tab on it.
Other than the names of each unit, it's still relatively easy for the forgetful among us to distinguish between the individual unit types and their specialities on the battlefield.
Thats what the strategic view is for. Each icon tells you EXACTLY what that type of unit is, regardless of how it looks visually. want to select all your lvl 1 artillery? zoom out, double click a level 1 artillery piece's icon, and all of them will be selected. you dont have to become familier with how the units look at all, just learn what the icons represent.
I mean seriously, we already know about every single unit, all the terrain types, the interface has been beaten over our heads, and even the story has been revealed. Everyone that is interested has already played the multiplayer part of the game (with all units unlocked, even).
Please, stop with the previews.
