Steam Client Update Released

Hmm, the new skin looks like FlatSkin...

I really like the UI changes. Looks good. I just wish I had more than one guest pass for DoD: Source. I have 2-3 friends that need to play it...

Ooof. Not positive, but I think this update spontaneously rebooted my computer in the middle of doing its thing.

Wonder if they've fixed their credit card checking system not working at all for many non-US customers (including me and several other UK people I've spoken to who have no problems with most other sites)?

Anyone who had trouble in the past bought anything from Steam recently? I had issues with both Sin:E1 and HL2:E1 and decided to go the retail route until I hear things have improved. Getting into a one-on-one support email chain just to give a company my money every single time I want to buy something isn't ideal.

This version still freak the fuck out and go to 100% CPU usage, while not actually doing anything, at random intervals? That shit got old like 3 years ago.

Kinda off topic but I just tried this Pirates Vikings and Knights mod (http://www.pvkii.com/) and it was actually good. I expected it to be like GoldeneyeSource that I put down almost immediately but it really rather entertaining.

Not serious entertaining like css but jerk off waste of time entertaining. yarrr.

New skins are MUCH better, digging Obsidian

i haven't installed this yet, but i'm guessing there are additional features in the update:

* Deleted all of mallrice's favorites one more time because that shit never gets old
* Still 'forgets' window and view settings and always starts you at the store, instead of at the minimal game listing
* Reset crosshair settings in CS:S
* Poured sugar in my gas tank

When is the one that adds advertising to CS 1.6?

Do the guest passes work over lan? And can they only be used once per person?

I can't figure out why every official skin for Steam has always been terrible. I used to hate the default, but used it over the alternative (grey?) it came with. Now, I've grown used to its mucousy+pukesy goodness.

The UI still seems as though it could be laid out a little better (when compressed). Maybe adding a few button icons (servers, friends, etc) next to the decompress/compress arrow or the drag button in the bottom right. Still uncertain about the rounded edges being gone again. Just seems like wasted space atm.

Was also hoping this update would fix how whenever you compress the menu, the Games menu is fixed at the same vertical height as the Store menu was, instead of saving however you had it beforehand.

Still love Steam, no doubt more improvements will come over time.

Also, don't use the Dark Messiah skin, you lose functionality of the top menus and arrow.
