Big Steam Update Coming Up
by Chris Remo, Jan 05, 2007 11:51am PSTValve sends word that next week its Steam service will be receiving a major update. Among the planned upgrades include the addition of guest passes, a background client upgrade feature that does not monopolize the program at startup, a streamlined interface with various available color schemes, and a Favorites section of the client that will house the user's most commonly played games. Announced last month, guest passes will allow Steam game owners to grant their friends the ability to play full versions of certain titles for free on a trial basis. Day of Defeat: Source will be the first game that users will be able to share; others titles will become part of the program at a later date.
