TA spawned many mod groups and "we" (our group) created half the initial tools for TA and new units, maps, etc....
It was a prosperous time for modding and TA in general (ode to Cavedog)...
Unfortunately... I feel the same way as does some of the original TA veterans...
SupCom is a definate successor but the scale is way too large... You can't enjoy it and half the game was spent staring at dots on the global map. Sure the design is amazing... the tactical possibility is fantastic...
But 1000 units, mass armies... over time... it just isn't as fun as TA....
In TA ... that 1 single unit could make or break the way... even a single Jeffy! Now you have to create uber super units to succeed and the units under level 3 instantly are obsoleted...
I want to like it... I seriously do... I was in the beta also...
If the scale was half the size.... or the battles smaller... or game was slower... it might be as fun as TA was...
Otherwise ... meh.... :L
I might need to give it another chance but to me it wasn't anywhere near as fun as it looks. I'm pretty much done with games though so your mileage may vary.
