Oblivion Expansion Pack On The Way
by Maarten Goldstein, Jan 04, 2007 7:34am PSTSo far, Bethesda has only been expanding the wildly succesful RPG The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion through small pieces of downloadable content. But according to the latest issue of PC Zone, a full blown expansion called Shivering Isles is on the way.
Revealed in the latest edition of PC Zone magazine, word is that the expansion will offer 30-plus hours of new adventuring, features new quests, monsters, expanded freeform gameplay - quest lines that branch more than before, for example - and a new land "that you can watch change according to your vital life-or-death decisions". Setting the scene, it's explained that an ominous-looking gate has opened in Nibben Bay, the portal leading to a torn realm - the Shivering Isles - ruled by Sheogorath, the god of madness and dementia. Apparently, adventurers will meet the god and "plough through his trials", but it's additionally hinted that ultimately we may well be usurping the deity. A ETA of Q2 2007 has been given.

sorry for ranting...just annoyed me that this game was "consolized" in quite a few ways, and that much more effort seemed to be put into graphics than gameplay. Now that the graphics part is done with though, I feel that they can now focus on gameplay(hopefully) and will come out with some epic expansions.
Also, for them to make it a necessity to make every piece of lore to be voice acted, it makes it so that first off, they will be less detailed since...well, lets face it...you get more bored by listening to someone ramble on about a rat or artifact than reading. And having everyone reuse 4 or so rumers...old beggers asking for a coin in an old quivering voice, then suddenly when you ask them about rumers or whatever, they sound like they were in their 20's-30's, not like they're in their 65+ age. It takes away from the realism. They should have stuck to the old morrowind thing...only voice things regarding the main quest, and everything else in detailed text.
Last gripe...why did they give free stuff out to their Xbox users and not PC? It's US who they should give back to...WE made them a big company, clean up their content, add stuff they forgot, balance issues, graphics, game longevity, etc. Windows light up at night, better skies, higher quality textures, better grass, environments, weather, sound, etc.
Last thing for those who didn't know about this...a little link as well :D
Anyone remember how they made the water red and called it lava? lol. Check out what his guy did for free that the devs half assed but got paid for:

I'm only going to be interested if it's either relatively cheap or a decent length. 100+ hours spent on the main game, if the expansion is only 1 hour of quests then it isn't worth it.

Oh, and theres a big Zardoz head thing you climb into the mouth of instead of an Oblivion gate.
I'm stoked for this expansion. It's funny how its 30-plus hours, that's so awesome. Fear expansion was like five :(
