I was sooo addicted to Quake 1 and Quake 2, and even a bit of Quake 3...but Quake 4 just didnt' hook me at all. Did anyone else feel this way? I remember skipping school to play Q1 and Q2 multiplayer :P LMCTF, DM...so fun!

I played it for a bit, but the lack of other players put me off. Now I just play CS:S :(

Same here. I liked it, but with nobody else to play against most of the time and with pretty bad bots to play against, I gave up quite fast.

I would have played it but there didn't seem to be much player interest. So the few servers I had to choose from were frequently high ping for me. Too bad, because as far as I could tell, it played just like Q3 (which is a good thing, IMO) but with better graphics.

      I played RA3 to death.

No quake ever interested me, save for the MP aspect of Quake 3. I just find them dull and.....well brown. Lots and lots of brown, and not much else. I didn't find them impressive visually either as most seemed to, I thought Duke3D actually looked nicer as the art assests took more effort than just smearing a texture onto a wall with polygonal enemies.

While everyone was gushing over Quake and Quake 2 I was playing Doom, Duke3D and Goldeneye.

I couldn't get into Q4 at all. I played Q2 and Q3 the most. At one point, my Q3 folder was over 20GB from maps, models, etc.

Quake2 nearly ruined me. Quake3 was great for a while, but that was really only because of the momentum I had coming off of Q2. I bought Quake4 and never finished the single player and only played Multi a couple of times. There was never anyone on.

I'm not mad though because I paid $50 for Quake2 and got thousands of hours out of that...

I really like it, but it would be much more enjoyable if my PC was a bit faster.

Quake 4 movement and physics feel totally off to me. Some people try to tell me otherwise but there is weird stickiness to ledges and objects and odd movement quirks that are there. Subtle but definately there.

QW and Q3 feel so much cleaner and more responsive in comparison. It doesn't surprise me at all that Q4 has found absolutely zero traction in multiplayer gaming.

I played it to death actually. It's a blast, but yeah I'm in my 30s now and I can't take the churn of DM for nearly as long as I used to. I got burned out after about six months of playing it nightly and haven't touched it in a while now.
