Well, it's official.

I'm no longer a gamer, apparently. :(

I have not played one single game on any of those lists.

*sigh*

Whoah reminds me how few games I've bought this year :( and how few there have been I've wanted.
Off the PC list, the ones I have bought are, Company of Heroes, Titan Quest and Oblivion.

Hmmm..No one likes F.E.A.R. Extraction Point? I'm having a blast! More juicy F.E.A.R. acxtion, with two new weapons (Lightning GunLaser Carbine & Minigun), and better set piece fights...Kinda like HL2 Ep1...<hint, hint> (I'ts just still hard to deal with the 3 weapon inventory - Far Cry, I'm also looking in your direction)

How do I vote write-in's for more than one place? The choices seem really limited.

Really should have Wii sports under the Wii category at least, I would think.

GOY in this order:

1. Twilight Princess
2. Company of Heroes
3. Gears of War

The whole concept of a public "Game of the Year" vote is ridiculously flawed.

First of all, I doubt there's anyone here that has played every single game on that list. Sure, maybe you've played a demo, or watched a buddy play it, or maybe even seen a gameplay trailer, but it's highly doubtful you've played it all the way through and experienced every aspect of it.

Even if there was somebody who had played all of these (like a gaming press editor), that still leaves everybody else. And the majority of those people have probably only played a fraction of the games on the list.

So what does that mean? It means that a majority of people are voting blindly. For example, "Oh! I played Oblivion and it was great! I've never heard of these other games, but Oblivion gets my vote for game of the year!" And then there will be the people who go like this, "Wow, I never played Half-Life 2 Episode 1, but everybody on the internet said it was too short, so it must have sucked. In fact, the only game I did play this year was Prey, so it must be my game of the year!"

What this boils down to, is that the ultimate "Game of the Year" is actually going to turn out to be "Game that the Most Shackers Played and Enjoyed this Year." Games like Galactic Civilizations II (which is a superb, brilliantly programmed independent game, btw) are going to get the shaft because far fewer people played it.

Would you count the score of an Olympic judge if he only watched one of the gymnasts? Hell no! So yes, Game of the Year voting may be fun, but it is pointless unless all of the voters have tasted all of the flavors.

Who else wrote in Urban Dead as a candidate, because I know I did!

This must have been the best game for computer games at all. Gears, COH, Zelda , GH2, Oblivion, Okamai all of the Wii...

Had to vote for company of heroes for overall GOTY. such an amazing game.

I just wanted to see the full size picture for BF2142. I had to click 4 times to finally see it. Thumbnails not linking to pictures is annoying.

Anywho, the GOTY voting is always fun. Thanks. Here's hoping for Gears of War and Rainbow Six.

What a tough vote for Overall.

I really loved HL2 Ep1, Final Fantasy XII, and Twilight Princess. They're all equally great. I rated them in that order. HL2Ep1 only beat out FFXII because it was such great fun in such a short time. Twilight Princess has some tolerable but nagging camera issues and dated graphics, especially compared to the amazing art direction in FFXII.

Overall a great year for games.

That was really hard for me.

I didn't have ANY votes for Action game. I found it hard to vote 'mods'/'expansions' (BF 2.142 and HL2 Ep2) as GOTY.

But then you get to RPG, and you have Gothic3 fighting against Oblivion. GAH!!

Then in RTS land, once again you have an expansion (Dark Crusade)...but it's got an entirely new style of gameplay for the single-player. It could EASILY be a stand-alone game. Interestingly, it doesn't matter, because Relic showed themselves up with CoH. (Man, I can't wait for DoW2.)


All-in-all it was a very tough vote for me this year.

God what a suck year for gaming. I didn't vote for anything in PC because I haven't played any of those games (then again, my PC has had problems since August 06 have kept it from being a real gaming rig like several dead video cards.)

I think being a chatty bitch on the internet has sucked away most my time this year. I own everything but PS3 and have only played a few of these console games too.

My voting pattern, of only choosing those games I played or at least demo'd, should tell you why these polls are meaningless. I really don't know how good those I never tried are, yet I cast votes anyway! Should I be ashamed?

This whole thing is a sham...a sham I tell you because Tomb Raider Legends isn't listed under the platformers section when crap, yes I said it, crap like LocoRoco is.

Kind of a weird feeling. The only games listed that I've played are Oblivion and FFXII. I guess I'm not really a gamer anymore.
