New Guild Wars Nightfall Elite Mission Soon

3

The peeps at ArenaNet let us know that this weekend, the Domain of Anguish will open for Guild Wars players who have finished the Nightfall installment. "Players will find four separate areas to explore, nearly a dozen quests, new armor upgrade options, a system for acquiring novel weapons, and of course a compelling mission as well".

Has interest tapered off after each release? I noticed that in terms of sales Nightfall was only in the top 10 PC games for I think two weeks, reviews are also lower for the title compared to Factions and Prophecies. Are in game populations high? Are there more hardcore fans playing that played the previous games? Do you think Guild Wars #4 will do well?

I don't own GW:F and only got GW:N last week, but already have a lot of hours in it (especally including the 18ish hours I played the free weekend).

GW:N is the best so far. It is much better then GW:P.

Looking at the shack guild, NOTE: it is not a real active guild and all the real active shackers are in other guilds, and a number of people have been active in the last month. Now most have not been around for a good long time, but still a good number.

I have been playing it a lot since Thanksgiving and to be honnest the only reason I notice people is lag in the cities. Since I am using Heroes I don't need people to group with (as much).

I don't know about the hard core PvP because I am not involved in it.

Will GW:4 do well ... yeah probably. Will I get it? Maybe ... I might wait until later to pick it up. I plan on picking up GW:F sometime ... when I can get it cheap and all.

I do look forward to seeing what they come up with for the differant game mechanic for GW:4. That and the new classes will determin if I pick it up as soon as I find it for about $30 (what I did with GW:N) or wait until later or not at all.

As some one who has played almost 400 hours I can say that my interest has wayned recently. Nightfall was a step in the right direction but way more needs to be done. The PvE (now unofficially know as the single player game) stories are a little cliche and have poor presentation. The cutscenes need some actual cinematography and they need to animate each cutscene uniqely. They could make combat a little less monotinous; ie make NPCs smarter and able to use the same tricks players do. ArenaNet should also work on a graphics upgrade for C4 as DX10 will be out by then.

Guild Wars has held my attention longer than any other online game, though this is mostly due to it having no monthly fees. Hopefully ArenaNet will not resort to lame crap likepaying real money for uberweapons/armor/items/exp...

I think it's still going strong but there's not much to do with your characters long term, outside of finishing each chapter or pvp. it's good as a casual game though.

that is how most games are ... there comes a point you have done everything you can, unless you want to do some competition (PvP).
