Here is an  unofficial GLQuake page offering an updated version of GLQuake with some new multitexture, and nifty fog effects along with a Quake2 style sky rendering among other things.

  • #2, I\'m with you. For your reason as well as the fact that it\'s just plain simpler to unzip some files into a directory(s). And in this case, it\'s not like GLQuake requires system files that have to go all over your harddrive in just the right places.

When people distribute mods and utilities with an installer, I almost NEVER bother to try them. I want the control over where stuff goes, especially from end-user mods whose authors often can code pretty well, but they don\'t have a clue when it comes to bundling and distributing software - they either A) use the cheap VB/VC++ installer that just packages every system file under the sun whether you need it or not and/or B) they scatter crap and registry entries all over your system.

Bottom line, I want to SEE what\'s going on my harddrive before it gets there and have CONTROL over where it goes.

So, please, mod and utility authors, just bundle your software in a ZIP file if at all possible, include some docs, and we\'ll figure the rest out.
