Paul Steed is clever to a point. He, for example, nicely covered in his sarcastic raving the fact that people would reply to his article in the way I am right now. But cleverness like that only goes so far; in this case, it\'s not enough.

He\'s right about many interviewers wanting to write a controversial review that will bring in the m4h s1t3 h1t5. However, he also totally failed to even entertain the possibility that someone might honestly just not like the game. It boggles the mind to think that someone could have a low opinion of the game.

Now, I don\'t know what it\'s like to work for months --> years on a game, but I have a fairly good mental model of what it would be like to see some dumb kid slap it down on his web site. But if there\'s a problem with the elite reviewers picking on things that Joe Blow will never worry about, then why did they invite those same elite reviewers to playtest it? He didn\'t address that, either.

Yes, in any industry there will be bastards. In the case of the internet, there are even more than usual because anonymity is a powerful tool. But simply because people don\'t use their real names doesn\'t mean that their opinions are any less valid.

I assume that, even if anyone at id actually read this [I guess it\'s a statistical possibility, if just barely a mark on the chart], then the inclination would be to assume I\'m another person blowing off steam in a knee-jerk reaction. To some extent, this is true. However, realize that there really is a point in here somewhere, and realize that it\'s possible for the little guy to be correct once in awhile. It might not be me, and it might not be this time - but it will be someday.

I fired this off to Flashcom \'cusomer care\'

\"If my service is not up and running by Feb 11, I am cancelling my order

Someone better send me an email telling me when I can co-ordintate a
