Following hot on the heels of the Battlefield 2142 1.05 patch, here is the Battlefield 2142 1.06 patch. It fixes a Titan mode crashing issue. Updated server files here.

replyIn a fit of sheepness I had downloaded the 'ea link' program a while back. When it was ea-downloader, it downloaded patches and did what I'd expect it to. Now ea link doesn't seem to do that. Heck, I can't even *find* the patches in it, it just has games for sale? Am I missing something here (other than EA is evil and money grubbing)? If ea link doesn't download patches to me (I have bf2142 on DVD, not downloaded version) is there any reason to have it?

I felt I was forced to download the ea-downloader. I thought maybe it would be helpful in the long run, but like you mentioned, it's really just bloated advertising software, and doesn't have anything helpful.
So, advertising before you game, advertising while you game... People said it wasn't that bad in BF2142, but I've taken screenshots where 2-3 billboards are in view at a time. They DO NOT fit the theme, and they DO stick out from the action. It's kinda sad looking. It would have been neat if a small indy developer needed ads to make money, but a company like ea... well, I should stop this rant now.
