AMD just put out a press release about 45minutes ago announcing that they just got a 1.1GHz Athlon CPU off of their assembly lines in Dresden Germany and demonstrated it. The CPU is using the new 0.18micron and on-die L2 cache.

The demonstration featured the newest version of the AMD Athlon processor that integrates high-performance on-die Level 2 (L2) cache. The device is manufactured utilizing AMD's leading-edge HiP6L 0.18 micron process technology featuring copper interconnects. The demonstration required no special cooling techniques... <snip>

  • Dude,
I read and learn from the experiences of others. My first \'puter was
a CTX P200. It costed $1800 almost 4 years ago.

I built the \'puter I am using now. I learned what to build and how to
build it from info on the net. (I didnt have the net before the CTX ;)
    I have a Celery300A o/c to 450. Abit BH6 mobo. 128 megs pc100
    Sdram. TnT2 ultra. SB Live.

What was my point?..... oh yeah... no I dont have an Athlon, but I like
what I\'m reading and I know what I\'m buying.

Let my magic fingers do the pointing =======>Athlon 800 = 1gig for
    $500 by summer.

Your P3 933 will cost at least $850 if you can find it in mid June. LOL

  • 143..I can go out and buy stuff for my computer too. If I want a DVD drive, I can go buy one for 80 bucks just like you. My computer is still covered by warranty, so when something shitty happens, like when I busted my speaker, I get a replacement free of charge, no questions asked. Its a good deal in my opinion. No hassles either. I recommend Dell to anyone who doesn\'t feel tech-savvy enough to build their own. If you are able to build your own computer, more power to you. Bottom line, Dell is a good company to buy from from my (5 years, three computers, all still running flawlessly) experience with them.

  • I\'ve got a Dell, so does my little brother. He had his CD drive replaced after two years of owning the computer at no charge. Not only did he get the part within a couple days, but they sent us a better CD drive than he originally purchased. His was a low-end 8x, but they sent him a brand new 32x. They don\'t keep those old parts in stock, so Dell sends you the comparable part they have in inventory at the moment. Same deal with me. I fucked up the power switch on my speakers. Dell sent me a new set the next day free of charge. Once again, they didnt have my exact speakers in stock so they sent me a higher quality pair.

/me is quite happy with his Dell.

And yes, I\'ve taken my computer apart, replaced the vid card, and I\'m still covered under warranty. Some of you need to get your facts straight before y...oh wait. I\'m at the Shugashack. Carry on.
