Pirate Busted

An interesting turn of events on the software piracy front. It looks like long time software pirating group PWA has had one of their 'council members' busted by the FBI. The sad thing is the FBI and press are making a huge deal out of busting a single member of a single warez group. Albeit he's a bigwig...

  • Hmm... what\'s on my puter that I actually paid for. I\'m very sure I\'m not alone when I say, not a whole lot:

Win98: because I lost my friends burn and broke down - this being before my SDSL&CDRW.
Q3A: because id deserved it, not because auth is unbeatable, which it\'s not.
Gamespy: because they deserved it, not because of the relentless BUY IT! motd\'s
Opera Browser: Because they\'re developing a fast, small, fully functional browser that will never be the resource hogs that the freebees Netscape/IE are

That leaves hundreds of other apps with a corresponding crack in the backup dir. 95% of it is rarely used shitware. 4% is way too expensive and will never offer a lower ass rapage deal. The last 1% of the s/w I really should buy to give them a thumbs up.

Hi Mr. Spook CyberFed! Please don\'t ask Steve for my IP because he\'ll just offer you a lapdance instead. If you must resort to torture in order to get it out em, be gentle. Now, good luck getting my ISP to handover the home address correlated with my static IP Mr Spook. If you get that far and show up on my doorstep... well... :) ... my computer sports speech recognition so detain me quickly if you like... but once I yell, \"THE ESTABLISHMENT IS HERE! EJECT! EJECT! EJECT!\" my puter will nuke all evidence and enable the microwave to toast my backups... :-)
