New Street Fighter Movie Coming

Not discouraged by the fact that the first Street Fighter adaptation by Hollywood was god awful, Capcom has signed a deal with Hyde Park Entertainment for a new Street Fighter movie reports Variety this morning. The new movie, set for a 2008 release, will focus on the female character Chun Li though details are being kept under wraps. The script will be written by Justin Marks, no director is attached to the project yet.

I'm a big SF fan, still play it etc etc... Since Capcom Japan doesn't own the franchise anymore this would have to be Capcom USA's dirty work! Stop them at all costs!

Looking at the writers credits, he doesn't look too bad. Not very experienced, with mainly just a few shorts, but they seem to be dramas (with the exception of Voltron). The main thing plagueing video game adaptions is that they are all bad action movies, and not the good kind of bad action movies. Somebody who is able to write a decent story might be able to make it work, or at least make it into the decently OK category.
