  • ok so im just gonna lay down my feelings on this demo. and this come from someone who, despite all the drama around bf2, likes the game [bf2].

i didn't play the beta, i didnt really followed the marketing of this game. i just saw one or 2 movies, read alot of comments on the beta testing like, crap, bugs, sucky, lame, loser, a couple ok's, but in the end didn't really care for those comments.

So, 4 hours later playing this game i'm very impressed with the stability but somewhat not satisfied with the gameplay.

First, on with the achievements. I was really impressed with the interface. No more feeling of being dragged over or lag in the whole menu, specially the multiplayer. Everything works smoothly, even the mouse cursor seems to be on a different layer because it never slows down.

The same goes with the loadings. Fkin-a. It's very fast, in comparison with BF2. HOWEVER, i'm cautious on this one. In the BF2 demo the loading wasn't that bad either but then in the full game it was something.

I also think that servers didnt have battlerecorder (can't remember), but if they didn't, then that could also be a reason for faster loading; battle recorder greatly increases the loading times (and this boggles my mind on why just about every public server has this option turned on, when a very small minority uses it and in the end it only screws the loading times, both on connecting and when intially entering the server).

So, and pending some inquiry, the loading times excelled my projections.

The graphics had a overhaul i believe, the explosions look cool.

Now on to the gameplay. One word: weird. It seems like i have to learn how to fire a gun again. Weapons fire weird, hit weird, and i never know what the hell is happening. In a way it kinda draws you into full trigger on someone, but then you'll be missing all the way. What also screws it up is that everytime you shoot it's like the 4th of july. fking HUGE ricochet EVERYWHERE. what a MESS!!

The camera shake that is turned on by default is also a big mess. When i first started to play it seemed like everything was crazy. Thankfully you can turn it off.

The sniper gun, wth? that constant motion screws it up. Too much realism.

Now on to the titan mode. I like it. Sadly, people don't seem to know how to actually play it, and considering it's just been released, i'll give it a discount. Bad games so far. The enemy titan is with no shield and where is everyone? In the grounds, fighting for the silos. lol come on!!!

Or then, the enemy just breached our titan and where is everyone? in the grounds!!

I like that sense of being in a ship though, and those 6 spots you can fill in the titan, 4 artillery, 2 AA, are awesome.

So, and can't remember more for now, i'm somewhat divided on buying or not. For one, the titan mode is cool. Some of the unlocks look ok, but i have yet to learn more about them as in do i need to reach general or something to fully have the 43 unlocks? This kinda makes you into making different specialized characters, pretty much like a mmorpg, but this is NOT a fking RPG. This is a FPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The new vehicles and the new weapons are the ones that are balancing my decision, negatively. The fact that BF2's weapons worked great were because they were REAL. There was some factual data behind each weapon. But on these, they are just made up shit very unrealistic. It's hard to kill anyone, and like i mentioned before, everytime you hit the trigger is the 4th of july.

So, i don't know. The game seems very unbalanced. I was thinking on buying the game, but now, i need to play more on this demo and see if the problem is in me or the game.

As for the bugs, eh. it's a demo. just released and i'm pretty sure they'll deal with it because it's not just a small issue, it's a core issue that can detract you from playing the game (the disconnect thing).

oh well. thumbs up for titan. thumbs down for gameplay. Quite a match!
