Very cool movie, makes me wonder what the game intro will look like as I don't think this will be the intro.

They've said that there won't be an intro. Neither FMV mor in-game. We'll have to see if Take2 agrees.

mor=nor. Also, it's pointless to make mockup gameplay videos unless you're trying to pitch something to a prospective publisher, if you ask me.

Well I think they're trying to pitch it too gamers, after all it is a new IP (even though most of us think of it as System Shock 3). I think mock gameplay is nice as long as it's not misleading, and I don't think this was plus it told a story of what some of the choices are going to be like during the game.

I think it is misleading, at least to the casual observer, which is clearly the point of using these FMVs shot from a first person perspective that are appearing with such regularity. The reason they're now so common is because the gap between the FMV's quality and actual in-game rendering is getting pretty small, so companies using these type of trailers obviously feel they can dupe the less hardcore viewer into thinking the FMV represents the quality of the game's graphics, or will at the very least come to associate high visual quality with the finished article.

While I'm certainly looking forward to this game, I thought the trailer was pretty distasteful and gratuitously violent. It gave the overwhelming impression that they were just going for attention grabbing shock value by simply coming up with the freakiest things they could imagine, particularly in that instance where insects were emerging from his arm, which was so ridiculous that it reminded me of that old Simpsons line:

"Or what? You'll release the dogs? Or the bees? Or the dogs with bees in their mouth and when they bark they shoot bees at you?"

If you've got something that's so OTT it's mimicking a deliberately absurd joke from a comedy series, you've set the wrong tone.

But that's actually part of the game, and the whole game is meant to be very freaky and disturbing. It might not end up being as scary as System Shock was, but I think it will be more disturbing and more psychological.
