Battlefield 2142 GONE GOLD

60

With an October release set several months ago it's not much of a surprise, but the official Battlefield 2142 website now notes that the game has gone gold. Look for it in stores around October 17.

EA and DICE are pleased to announce that Battlefield 2142 has gone gold. Meaning that after months of internal testing and balancing, the game has been handed over to the quality assurance team for final testing. Congratulations to everyone involved, and a big thank you to everyone involved in the Beta testing.

So what was the status of bugs in the most recent versions of the open Beta? Anyone know when we'll get a demo?

I played the beta until the last day and there were still a number of bugs and optimization issues.

What were you running? I was on an A64 3400+ 1GB RAM with a 6800 GTO - played fine.

They mentioned that they had fixed more than 1000 items, but that those fixes weren't in the beta releases. The demo should tell us whether it was worthwhile or not.

Opteron 165 @ 1.8GHz, 2GB Ram, Geforce 7800 256MB - it was much choppier than BF2 and I tried lowering the resolution and performance settings.

That's odd. B2 has performance issues on my system (RAM issue, actually) Once I see a sale on a 512MB stick, it's mine until then... :/

Yikes I hope the fixed the bugs I saw in the Beta.
There were a good 2 or 3 bugs that were pretty major.
The BFHQ screens didn't seem finished at the time either.

It is a fun game though, but fuck EA for putting in game ads

There were a good number of bugs, but the biggest problem is just how the game feels. The interface is awful, movement doesn't feel good, performance is terrible (unless you like 15 frames a second), and the core mechanics had problems (the silos shooting missiles when captured). It just doesn't feel like a good solid, done game.

Moreover, it is the most confusing BF game yet (there were many things not explained that I had to learn by asking people in the game, which is always a pleasant experience).

And yet another person with a medium-to-low end system crapping on a game for not running smoothly. Oh and newsflash, it's a Beta, were you expecting to run around playing the finished and polished version of the game or....?

I thought it had a slick feel, cool weapons and vehicles, the new unlock systems is sweet. Titan mode is really fun, overall. I felt that it was shaping up nicely as they wrapped it up.

You're just about the shilliest shill that ever shilled.

That was the first (and most important thing for me) thing I noticed about the BF2142 beta - it just felt nice. The interface was a large improvement, but movement (especially infantry) was like a dream. BF2142 > BF2 > BF1942 for infantry movement it seems.

Interesting. People rat you out for being a "shill" and if they look at your posts and your history: Not. Sheesh. Glad you liked the game. I like it as well, but I'd rather spend my money to get my RAM first so that I can play BF2 the way I want. 2142 is on the Christmas list. So is Dark Messiah!
