I had an MP3 of a track I really liked (Transwave - Hypersphere) and since the original album its on (Hypnorhythm EP) is out of print (it goes for $200+ used when you can find it...which is rare...on vinyl its slightly cheaper at ~$180 used...you can't get it new anywhere so far as I can tell...since its been out of print since 1995 and I think the label it was on is out of business)...I decided to buy it on a compilation CD (I always buy tracks that I like and have DL'd...its the only reason for DL'ing anything...to see what I like and buy...or to delete it). So I bought the Heavy Mental music compilation that had a mix of tracks for about 120 bucks used...but the first and last 5-10 seconds of the song (a 7 minute song) are mixed in with other songs...not really badly...but still its not exactly the same.
So my question is; am I ok...or should I feel guilty?

Remember this thread about that girl situation I've created for myself?

So after three days of laying low (mostly masturbating to battle marches and John Philip Sousa), I have struck, struck hard and struck gold.
Now I just have to wait for her to finish him off in the good ole fashioned Mortal Combat... uh... fashion. I have officially become a home-wrecker. So far so good!
For making this possible, I would like to thank (in alphabetical order)

One can hope it is only a matter of days now before the more visually-inclined amongst you will be treated to some pic/divx action.

Here now are those pictures of Chernobyl, which is sort of a time capsule to the early 1980s under Soviet Communist rule:
http://englishrussia.com/?p=293
You'll see interesting parallels and some differences (obviously early 1980s Russia was decades ahead of what we see in NK even today).
The architecture is one aspect I find most striking, as well as how the forest is reclaiming Chernobyl.

http://itpolicy.princeton.edu/voting/
That is seriously fucked up. Plug in some headphone, put in a card and reboot the fucking machine in the booth... or just do it before hand when no one is watching! Good times. Your fucking Xbox360 is more secure then that.
What I don't get is why this has been so fucking hard to figure out?! You do their fancy little touch screen and before you can confirm, a little receipt is printed out under a window. There you can see in human readable form who and what you voted for w/ a bar code (or codes) that follow that are machine readable. If it is wrong, you say "FUCK NO BITCHES!" and go back and fix it. That way there are three levels of record.
First, there is the stored database of what got voted for. This is counted instantly and in areas that used this system 100%, vote counting would be done instantaneously and everyone would be happy. Then, before the election is certified, the recipte tape is run through a machine and it verifies all of the votes. If that matches, and it always should, everyone is happy.
Now, if there is a re-count or there is something fucked up with the count on either of those, you have a very human readable paper trail that violates no one's voting rights. (Its not a receipt you take home and it scrolls and clears out so the next person doesn't know who you voted for.)
Seriously, how is this not the gold standard by now? Is it that fucking hard to do?
What a damn fun game. Flying around and shooting stuff and blowing stuff up is never a bad idea for a game. The dialog was just cheesy enough to get me interested but not annoying enough to drive me crazy DO A BARREL ROLL! The controls were fine but could have been better. Simply letting me assign a button to the barrel roll (or make it a circle drawn, not a big and forth) would have saved me many a pilot.
At first I was saddened to find out I beat the game so quickly (maybe a hour of solid play time). Then I realized the game was built around a "choose your own adventure" style with stories that interconnect and the such. It has taken me a lot longer then I thought it would to unlock all the endings (and thus all the pilots). It was definitely worth the $30 I spent at Target.
So, has anyone else got through all the endings yet? What the fuck is up with the one where Fox's dad comes back to life but is never acknowledged?

Firefox 2 RC1 is in the process of freezing. If all goes well, we could have it out as early as before the end of next week. If things go poorly... who knows.
This is a true RC; once we finish the bits, if we don't find new bugs in user testing, it will become Firefox 2. None of this "OK, it's an RC, but we know we still need to fix those couple things before final" business.
That said, I strongly suspect there will be a second RC; we've changed tons of stuff in the last week, and it's going to wind up buggy. The question is just how much risk we're willing to take by trying to patch in further RCs.
Also, on a personally exciting note, my name is now in the Firefox 2 credits (as of tonight). I have been following Mozilla and Firefox for a very long time, contributed toward the New York Times ad, and it's a really cool thing to actually be listed in the product itself. Neato!

Holy full page advertising batman! I mean, I can't wait for the show but how much did that cost?
TO THE HOUSE I HAVEN'T LIVED IN FOR A YEAR AND 3 MONTHS
I guess when I updated my billing and shipping info, Amazon still didn't want to ship it to me. How is it that sites like Newegg will crucify you if you try to send stuff to a different address but sites like Amazon are like "no no, it's cool." Seriously. The address it was shipped to was not a valid shipping address on my credit card. I'm sure it was I who fucked up but I thought that is what computers are for! They help us humans when other humans design shit so poorly and catch shit for us that we miss.
So ... do I cruise back down to the ghetto and knock on the door?

is there a date list somewhere of Studio Ghibli's upcoming re-releases on DVD?
I know that Totoro, Whisper of the Heart and Nausicaa are out but what about the rest? also, are the 2005 releases of Porco Rosso and The Cat Returns included in this Walt Disney re-release batch?
Im a bit confused. :|
While I was there though, I saw one of the PiccoZ mini RC Helicopters that the RC Groups guys seem to like on the Micro RTF section. I grabbed that too. Wow, this thing is just so much fun once you get the hang of it, so worth the 30 bucks.
I took a picture, use Quarter for size reference: http://zx81.isl.uiuc.edu/camilleg/rcfly/aeroace10.html

I made a new menu for my site. I finally figured out some of the CSS concepts that I never really understood properly until earlier today, and after learning about it, I applied some of it to the menu and another page that as of yet hasn't been published.
I think it looks pretty slick. Simple, but slick. The best part is that I've been learning all of this on my own, and it's been a blast to watch the site evolve as I get the hang of new stuff.
