  • I need input from the Shack morality voltron of power...

I had an MP3 of a track I really liked (Transwave - Hypersphere) and since the original album its on (Hypnorhythm EP) is out of print (it goes for $200+ used when you can find it...which is rare...on vinyl its slightly cheaper at ~$180 used...you can't get it new anywhere so far as I can tell...since its been out of print since 1995 and I think the label it was on is out of business)...I decided to buy it on a compilation CD (I always buy tracks that I like and have DL'd...its the only reason for DL'ing anything...to see what I like and buy...or to delete it). So I bought the Heavy Mental music compilation that had a mix of tracks for about 120 bucks used...but the first and last 5-10 seconds of the song (a 7 minute song) are mixed in with other songs...not really badly...but still its not exactly the same.

So my question is; am I ok...or should I feel guilty?

  • I've been reading about fucked up electronic voting since before the 2000 election. However, I think this video really puts it together nicely...
    http://itpolicy.princeton.edu/voting/

That is seriously fucked up. Plug in some headphone, put in a card and reboot the fucking machine in the booth... or just do it before hand when no one is watching! Good times. Your fucking Xbox360 is more secure then that.

What I don't get is why this has been so fucking hard to figure out?! You do their fancy little touch screen and before you can confirm, a little receipt is printed out under a window. There you can see in human readable form who and what you voted for w/ a bar code (or codes) that follow that are machine readable. If it is wrong, you say "FUCK NO BITCHES!" and go back and fix it. That way there are three levels of record.

First, there is the stored database of what got voted for. This is counted instantly and in areas that used this system 100%, vote counting would be done instantaneously and everyone would be happy. Then, before the election is certified, the recipte tape is run through a machine and it verifies all of the votes. If that matches, and it always should, everyone is happy.

Now, if there is a re-count or there is something fucked up with the count on either of those, you have a very human readable paper trail that violates no one's voting rights. (Its not a receipt you take home and it scrolls and clears out so the next person doesn't know who you voted for.)

Seriously, how is this not the gold standard by now? Is it that fucking hard to do?
