I hope they do and they give the big prize to the best game/mod and not the one that will get their engine into a new genre.
Didn't Red Orchestra move to steam? That should teach them there were many better mods out there, but they wanted the WW2 one.

Red Orchestra was by far the best mod in the final, it was the most feature complete, had the most polished gameplay and was a ton of fun.
- Red Orchestra was by far the best mod – it was not the best mod.
- it was the most feature complete -- so, what does that have to do with being the best mod? This was not a "complete the most you can" competition
- had the most polished gameplay -- see previous
- was a ton of fun -- this is a matter of opinion
There were better, more innovative, game concepts -- with your criteria no matter what the group with the most time and resources to poor into it would win (for the most part).

I guess the silver lining is that Alien Swarm have landed a deal and we'll see Alien Swarm 2 for sale on Steam when it's finished. Also, it looks sex on the Source engine.
All the finalists in the last MSU contest got excellent press coverage from all the big sites, something that is normally very hard for modders.
ps: play Dystopia! :)
