ZDNet is running a special on Windows2000. As the official release of the OS is getting much closer now, it might be time to take a look and decide if it's worth making the switch.

  • So fucking what, if Win2K has had one security bug after it was RTM but before it hit the shelves? The important part is that they fixed it quickly. Do you run the default drivers on your Windows 95/98 CD, too? I hope not. Your hardware would run shitty and your IP stack would be extremely suceptible to multiple bombs. Face it, an OS is a constantly-evolving piece of technology and anyone who says a good OS shouldn\'t need upgrades, needs their head examined. You show me an OS that doesn\'t need patches and I\'ll show you an OS panic (Blue screen/Ooops/etc). The only full security is if you melt your computer down, grind it to dust, then mix it with concrete and pour it into a deep sea trench. Even then someone may get to it if they are clever enough.
