The latest RH Linux Distro is secure out of the box. The security issues that crop up on these OS\'s usually are DOS related, not data critical like this MS OS \"feature\" is.

Do you have Virii on Linux? Even if you did, you\'re usually logged in as non-root and so what? It\'s not going to require a reformat/etc. There are NO Sig system show stopping *nux Viruses, period.

The point here is that MS and ZD brag about their security, but it\'s hype, I tell you, all Hype.

So fucking what, if Win2K has had one security bug after it was RTM but before it hit the shelves? The important part is that they fixed it quickly. Do you run the default drivers on your Windows 95/98 CD, too? I hope not. Your hardware would run shitty and your IP stack would be extremely suceptible to multiple bombs. Face it, an OS is a constantly-evolving piece of technology and anyone who says a good OS shouldn\'t need upgrades, needs their head examined. You show me an OS that doesn\'t need patches and I\'ll show you an OS panic (Blue screen/Ooops/etc). The only full security is if you melt your computer down, grind it to dust, then mix it with concrete and pour it into a deep sea trench. Even then someone may get to it if they are clever enough.

Anyone else find it ironic that ZD gave them 4/5 on security yet already there is a huge hole in the OS? Unbelieveable. How much do they get paid ofr this crap?
